Seems to be the project needed by spanish cycling, with almost all his stars on foreign teams.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/unzue-targets-contador-for-movistar

Eusebio Unzue is trying to sign Contador since 2009, now it's gonna be 2013?

But, of course, this is the rider the team wants to reach the goal: be a spanish dream team. What this could be?

Another important point: Valverde back in 2012, so 2011 is going to be, apparently, a transitional year.

Anyway, good to see alive a team that started in 1980, won a Tour with Perico Delgado in 1988, five with Indurain, and had a second place with Zulle in 1999. Plus 3 Vueltas (1989, 1998, 2009) and 2 Giros (1992, 1993).

That will probably be the case.
It's good to see that Unzue takes such confidence in Valverde. after all, he does entertain, I believe.

Glad to see the team does not disappear. Let's see what their new jersey looks like (it has to be blue) and whether their Spanish champion looks as good as this year's if he stays in the team:

Rubén? Well, he did an ITT at 56,2km/h in the Vuelta in those days (wind assisted). Do you know, he's never finished outside the top 12 in a Grand Tour?

The loss of the Caisse Spanish champs' jersey is perhaps the saddest thing about them leaving the sport. It's the best champions' jersey in the péloton by a mile.

Oh! Sorry to forgot Pereiro, there wasn't any dark intention behind!

So it's 7 Tours (with 3 different riders); 2 Giros (Indurain); 3 Vueltas (with 3 different riders: Perico; Olano; Valverde).

And 2 Monuments: LBL with Valverde 06 and 08.

Sorry for repeating information, just in case somebody is no familiar with the structure:

1980-1989: Reynolds. (Perico, Arroyo)

1990-2000: Banesto (Indurain, Olano, Zulle)

2001-2003: Ibanesto (Mancebo)

2004-2005: Illes Balears (Mancebo, Valverde)

2006-2010: Caisse D'épargne (Valverde)

2011-: Movistar (Luis León Sánchez, and Valverde again on 2012)

The longest running structure in pro cycling, and with more GT wins after Bruyneel's structures.

Wasn't Menchov with Illes Balears before he joined up with Rabobank?

Yes, until 2004, and he just started to win the next year! Anyway, he gave a white jersey in the Tour to Ibanesto.

There where also other important riders on the different incarnations of the structure: Rubén Gorospe, Melcior Mauri, Jean-François Bernard, Andrew Hampsten, Vladimir Karpets, José María Jiménez, Leonador Piepoli...

Personally I'm a fan of their half-assed attempts to get into the French market starting with Heulot, Philippot, Damien Nazon, Davy... It never quite worked out.

(I don't count the Frenchies in Caisse because it's a slightly different concept)
