TGAK just rode away from them all. I think a thread is required.
GB Nats are a bit of a joke when the top 4 are all from the same team and the top 3 all sprint it out together, are from the same team. That's what I'd call not very impressive competition.
Andy99 said:To be honest, I laughed more when Kristoff won the Norwegian Nationals.
Oh, and how on earth did BMC manage to lose the Swiss Nationals??
auscyclefan94 said:Yes but in the British Champs it is pretty much one big team who has controlled the race and run away with it. In the Norweigan everyone is on their own or only has 1 team mate therefore it is a harder and more aggressive championship.
BMC lost the Swiss Nats because Cancellara was too strong in the sprint. Morabito attacked on the climb a few times but couldn't drop Fabian. They did all they could.
Andy99 said:sky didn't exactly 'control' the race, it just happens that some of team sky were amongst the strongest and made the selection over the Ryals.
In terms of numbers, other than the single riders from HTC/Omega Pharma and 2 x from Garmin, there were 5 other Continental teams with the same number of riders to sky.
auscyclefan94 said:Morabito so close...He always gets close but rarely wins. I think Steve would of needed a slightly harder course (even though it was quite hard anyway).
I guess 2 Gold 3 Silver 2 Bronze for BMC ain't too bad.![]()
auscyclefan94 said:Well in the last two editions you have Sky taking up the podium, they have controlled the race. The Norweigan and Swiss National Champs were both exciting aggressive races which were open races.

The same as folks say about BMC, I would imagine.Andy99 said:and if sky hadn't, what would you be saying then..??![]()

The last two years the GB Nats have been closed races because of Sky. If Sky hasn't won the race then I think it would of most likely been a lot better race.Andy99 said:and if sky hadn't, what would you be saying then..??![]()
Mellow Velo said:The UK race is rated NC2, the Norwegian race NC3.
Even TGAK can beat the likes of Lars Petter Nordhaug, in a sprint
If you want to start to talk about trolling.........

auscyclefan94 said:Yes and when did anyone really take UCI rankings seriously...
The reason why you make such comments is because many of your posts are just to bait myself or to bring down things that I think or like. Quite sad actually.
Mellow Velo said:Quite possibly.
Last year's race was wickedly hard. Came down to strength, so the team effort was certainly a factor.
Don't get to see this year for a week, so can't say how "exciting" it was.
No, it is a serious observation.
You slam the UK event as being a joke and praise the Norwegian race.
Would you be saying that if Lars Petter Nordhaug had won?
Team-centric opinion is what is truly sad.
Simple gauge. How many PT riders were in each race?
Depends. At the Spanish national, Movistar always rides as a ruthless block.Andy99 said:A further point is that irrespective of who rode for which team, the Nationals are actually an individual event.
It's not as if G/Wiggo/Kennaugh weren't actually racing against each other.
I mean look at the Aussie Nationals. The riders there are even listed under their club teams...

No I don't fail. I did answer MV's question. I find it funny you sterotype me as a colonial type when you carried on like a baby for no reason in the WIlunga Hill thread. Nice work ****!Winterfold said:ACF - you fail
Of course the number of Pro Tour riders in an event will have a bearing on its difficulty.
So are you going to answer MV's question or shut up?
I will give you credit as an Ozzie supporting a Swiss team rider in the Norwegian national race, which makes a change from the usual Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie we expect from colonial types.
Belittling? Going on the calibre of each rider, GB Nats are better. I never said to the contrary of that. Again, false claims about what others said should not be made.Timmy-loves-Rabo said:no one is lol.
MW just disliked the belittling of one nat race while another race, with a weaker field arguably is applauded merely because a rider of the team you like won.

I appluaded Alexander's win because:
1) He's a rider I like on a team I like
2) Because He rode very well to win, he didn't wait for a sprint and did a lot of attacking and working on the front to win.
3) He had no team mates which means it was a more open and tatically difficult race to read.
The GB Nats composed of a very dominant team being Sky of which the others really had little chance to beat them. That's why I disliked it. Don't take my comments out of context, please.
