Yea, Lance would tell you that he cannot hang with Schlecklet either.

I think he can. There are no more climbs as steep as Verbier. We wil see though. He is not hanging with him(A Schleck) now to protect AC. On Ventoux, we will see, its the last stage so the GC will be decided there.

Hats off to Astarloza, what a fantastic win for him - his first since '03 apparently. Sad that my boy Martin dropped out, but a hugely entertaining day's racing despite no major changes at the top of the GC. The Schleck Bros. tried and failed. LA must have surprised a lot of people, including myself. Evans is gone, Menchov may as well get off his bike.

Anyone else hear the 'news' that JB is officially parting company (shock, horror, surprise) with Astana at the end of the season?

How was I duped? Lance was dropped. Then Lance closed the gap. Those are the facts. To say it was planned reflects your own irrational delusions and hero workship.

In case you cant tell, or since you are new to cycling, there is a difference in closing the gap, and attacking. LA attacked since there was no one else there for him to drag to the main group. Sastre and Evan no longer count.

Voigt being taken to hospital, apparently injuries to face, head and shoulder.

Susan

In the slow mo I could see little white bits bouncing along the ground in his wake. Hope it was his tic tacs spilling and not his teeth! (It was hard to see as I was watching an online stream). Looked like he didn't even put his hand out, his face and shoulder taking the full brunt of the fall. Poor Jens. :(

Some observations:
1. Lance clearly is weaker than not just Contador, but Schlecklet, Kloden, Wiggins, and several others. He isn't going to win unless there is a crash by Contador, and even then it will be hard for him to keep the gap he has even with the TT.
Clearly???:)

You're right, they are all STEEPER than Verbier.

Noticed that as well, looks like he might have got knocked unconscious when he hit. Hope he makes a quick recovery

He wasn't hanging with him Sunday to protect AC? No, he got dropped like a bad habit. He still has to show this tomorrow too, and as Andy S just said (you know him, he is the guy who dropped him twice in the last two stages) said that the profile wasn't hard enough. I'd say he was right considering they were caught by Dave Z.

??? I think you'll find the Col de Romme tomorrow to be plenty steep. And with it leading straight to the Colombiere, tomorrow's going to be a tough day.

Wait. I think you mean uphill finishes. Correct? Because Ventoux isn't as steep as it is huge, and it's the only uphill finish left.

Yea maybe you are right. But Saxo obviously thought it was hard enough to try and ride Astana out at the beginning of the climb.

I think those were sparks from his rear derailleur dragging across the ground.

Ya, I wasn't talking about his teeth but that he didn't seem to try and protect himself and looked kinda limp just sliding across the pavement.

Armstrong himself said Alberto was the strongest and that he would support him.

"Now it is clear we have the strongest rider in the race. If we play it smart we can have three guys in the top five, and the guy who wins. I think now is time to put my chances aside and focus on the team" from cyclingnews front page

I'm sorry, where did those guys finish compared to Armstrong Sunday? Today? Easy answer, behind and with. I would suggest that he hasn't beaten ANY of those guys yet, and as Armstrong just said, it wasn't that steep and he can't accelerate with the the younger riders. I think you might want to listen to the man himself.

Who is Ben?

I have to say, Pelizotti in that KOM is just a total color clash between the red and white polka dot, and that lime green.

Red polka dots on lime green shorts would be interesting.

He, Lance and company are likely to be announcing a new team later this week.
