See, in my world, 'real cycling fans' would be talking about the remarkable and totally unexpected achievements of Martin and Garate instead of complaining about the fact that the race was boring because their hate object didn't lose time like they hoped.

Negativity rules here.

I'm gutted for Tony Martin because I really like the boy, but obviously also delighted about this Rabo win because man, did they ever need a break from somewhere. Garate however, is no personal favorite of mine.

Big props also to Schleklet, who did what he could given the tactical constraints of that group, and the relative weakness of Frank. Wiggins and Nibali could only follow while Kloden fell on his sword, as usual.

Conclusion: the top three are all occupying the places they have earned.

Even those of us who complain comment about exactly what you post. We are good at multi-tasking I guess?

And nearly every one of your posts is you complaining about someone else. I guess the "Irony Delete" key doesn't work on our computer.

Yup, similar to your posts complaining about a certain someone.

I'm sure the pharmacy will run out of Prozac for all the uber depressed, uber core followers of cycling because of the boring tour this year, next year, and the following years.

Three weeker signing off..............

Good point! I agree completely. ;)

Am I supposed to get excited about Garate? Maybe in the other forum. And Martin? He rode stupidly. Whenever he clawed his way back he was setting tempo for Garate.

Take it easy on them. This isn't exactly the result the haters wanted. It's got to be very depressing for them. They are turning their hate towards others now. Poor Bambi.

???? Fanboy nation will get to cheer the 3rd place jersey....strike that, I am being told there is no jersey for 3rd place.

To be fair, if there is one person on this board that is obsessed with Lance Armstrong, it's Thoughtforfood.

No doubt. The race director should be shot. The weekend stages have been disappointing to boring.

Yep. I liked the idea of a big mountain for the penultimate stage, but it should be several mountains like the classic Aspin-Tourmalet-Ardiden or Galibier-CroixdeFer-L'Alpe d'Huez.

You need several mountains to get everyone on their tip before the big clime at the end.

Maybe if you kept your sensitivity about Armstrong in check and actually read what people wrote, you would not come up with these ridiculous posts. No one was complaining about Armstrong not losing time. They are complaining that ultimately the stage did not amount to anything, and this happened after a three week build up for a stage that was supposed to make up for all the other boring stages. We were expecting a jackpot and we got a pay off of a few quarters. It was a miserable end to a miserable Tour.

Rumour on SBS that Klodi is retiring :(

I think the younger guys have done well in this tour :) (Not just the Schlecks!)

The wind has really screwed this stage. The one real mountain top finish and the wind prevents the climbers from making the most of it.

How long before someone blames either Versus or ASO for the wind?

I think that the motos and the huge crowds mitigated the wind to a great extent.

Too bad for Pellizotti, he was one of the major entertainer of this Tour but couldn't get any stage no matter how hard he tried.

Andy could have gone for it, he should have left his brother at some point, Franck couldn't follow, clear and simple.

True, but Andy couldn't shake Contador either. I don't think Andy could've won the stage unless Bertie gifted it to him.

Totally. Well put.

Wantng a better Tour doesn't mean people are being negative. This Tour ws screwed up by bad organisation. Wanting things to be done better is a noble goal.

Much as I have posted elsewhere, so +1.

Only thing to add is I thought Contador played the consummate team mate role to perfection, for LA, practiced against Evans, for Valverde, at the Dauphine.

Nibali and Pelozotti both deserve big props. King of the Mountains gave a great effort to win the stage and Nibali great effort for trying to take the podium.

This may be the most honest post you have ever made.

I totally agree. On a real TdF course with a proper amount of climbing, he would have never made the podium.

All in all, I'm glad I could watch the TDF this year. Any TDF is better than no TDF.

The race was what it was. Some liked it, some didn't. That's life.

I'm just glad to see so many young guys up there in the top 10. Evans, Sastre, Menchov gone. Not that I dislike them, it's just that it was time for a generational shift.
