I'm talking about the whole 2007 season. He didn't mention wins there from CancellaraIt‘s almost like Cancellara didn‘t even ride the Tour that year.
Amazing how you can get banned on here for blowing your nose, but constant trolling is allowed as long as you ridicule the right riders.WVA is a poor mans MVDP is and always has been nothing wrong with that just facts...
Also if he cant win a monument he hardly cant be recognised to best classics riders and far from it he needs to step it up a notch and two in order for that to happen if that happen then we can talk, time will tell. Atm hes a glorified Var Avermaet!
Nothing wrong with that per se. But it is clearly not what he believes or wants. I have already said his form in the TDF always seems better than during spring. In his first try at Tirreno he becomes 2nd. In his first try at Liège he finishes 3rd. Maybe he is eyeing the wrong races. If Wout van Aert continues to absolutely smash the Tour in July whilst collecting stages & also winning some other stuff throughout the year, then he's not exactly a "classics guy" is he? He's like a brilliant all-rounder who can win the Ventoux & also win green in the TdF.
The "classics guy" label isn't written in stone, i.e. just because a rider is expected to excel at something it doesn't mean that's what he's really good at or that's what he'll win (like in France, Alaphilippe was expected to win Liège already years ago, i.e. something which looks increasingly unlikely, yet he won 2 Worlds back to back & will be remembered for that).
And yes with regards to WvA, being mega strong in the Tour will absolutely define his career. The Ventoux win, the Champs win, last year's green, dropping Pog on Hautacam. These were legendary rides in the biggest race of the year.
+100Best post on the subject, by a mile.
Jeez, that's harsh. But you're right, he doesn't always make the right decisions. Let's hope that he wins PR then.Hes not better palmares than GVA , GVA have more big wins and a better palmares (just stretched over a longer time period). He's a Belgian pozzato let's be honest. But if he win Roubaix he will shed that moniker. He need to learn to race smarter as I have stated since 2021 spring
He got banned as well btw. Rightfully so but hardly long enough it seems.Amazing how you can get banned on here for blowing your nose, but constant trolling is allowed as long as you ridicule the right riders.

Yeah, legendary ride, reminds me of great Lennard Kamna dropping Carapaz in the Giro. Stuff of legends, really. He's going to be remembered for a long time.Admins on this site will tell you that dropping Pogacar on Hautacam isn't noteworthy and something any rider can do because he didn't have to ride all-out to the top.
He was 27 then, he's born in 1994, Cancellara in 1981, and Van Der Poel in 1995.For reference MVDP for 2021:
34 Tour de France | Stage 2 2.UWT 2021-06-27 ME 33 Tour de Suisse | Stage 3 2.UWT 2021-06-08 ME 32 Tour de Suisse | Stage 2 2.UWT 2021-06-07 ME 31 Tirreno-Adriatico | Stage 5 2.UWT 2021-03-14 ME 30 Tirreno-Adriatico | Stage 3 2.UWT 2021-03-12 ME 29 Strade Bianche 1.UWT 2021-03-06 ME 28 UAE Tour | Stage 1 2.UWT 2021-02-21
Exactly this. Palmares is a big factor to someone be considered as a legend. He already has charisma, panache and he is omnipresent, alongside Pogi, we are constantly seeing them fighting for the win from February to September. He is one of the biggest stars but he really needs that Roubaix win. He is capable of that and he has the best team in the world right now to do it. On the other hand, I feel Ronde is out of his reach specially since Pogacar arrived to conquer this race.Yeah, legendary ride, reminds me of great Lennard Kamna dropping Carapaz in the Giro. Stuff of legends, really. He's going to be remembered for a long time.
Now, seriously, Wout is a helluva rider, constantly one of the very best in the last 3-4 years, but he has a big problem, he just can't get that big one, for years... By his level, his potential, he deserves to be among very best, but you just can't put a guy with a single San Remo win in the same basket with multiple GT/monument/Worlds winners, no matter who he dropped, what mountain he conquered, and how many top field sprints he won.
He need to step up, he need to step up big!
Broken record.i really dont get why people get offended when someone point out that WVA is not on MVDP top level, like top priority race after priority race MVDP just holds his number this was just one more race where it was so damn obvious just as most of their careers how can you guys argue over something which is that factiol fact? and even get offended by it is beyond me, i dont make the results they kinda speak for themself. (Van Aert would be the first to say this himself for anyone with actual knowledge knows this ask any pro,if not you should be able to see it the way he rides when MVDP is in a race of importance)
As for WVA atm (im not saying that cant change ) yes hes very much a glorified Van Avermaet and noone is saying hes not good, And lets just get one thing straight just cause MVDP top level is above WVA and has been their entire careers basicly which is nothing new at all for everyone paying attention to reality by saying that doesnt automaticaly mean WVA is bad, WVA is a brilliant rider just not at MVDP top lvl like how is this even offensive, you guys watch the races or what?
Thats it for me as there really not much to debate on the matter at all atm it might change in the future who knows but as of now its not worth entertaining its like debating and making up a scenario Cadel Evans was better than Contador despite their results speaking for itself etc it really is wack.
And again so noone get hurts WVA is a brilliant rider i dont think anyone argue otherwice.
and even get offended by it is beyond me
you guys watch the races or what?

MVDP gonne win barring any accident.
I just did...and it looks like the future might be bright for young WVA...Seriously, do you want to compare Cancellara with WVA?
You are missing Tour de France wins and a TT WC. How convenient...
...uh...because I posted the entire 2006 year...you know, because Cancellara was 26 years old then, inline with the comparison YOU made. Sorry the facts don't work for your narrative.I'm talking about the whole 2007 season. He didn't mention wins there from Cancellara
Nope, he was born September 15, 1994...he didn't turn 27 until September of 2021...so, all of those wins were 26.He was 27 then, he's born in 1994, Cancellara in 1981, and Van Der Poel in 1995.
You're messing up the years.
Cancellara was 25 in 2006. 26 in 2007. He born in 1981...uh...because I posted the entire 2006 year...you know, because Cancellara was 26 years old then, inline with the comparison YOU made. Sorry the facts don't work for your narrative.
Cancellara won Roubaix in 2006...so, which is it?But Cancellara won a Roubaix at 26
He was 25 in 2006 at the time he won Roubaix. There is a handy feature on PCS. On the top of the results there is a checkbox for "age". It reveals the age of the riders at the time of the race.Cancellara won Roubaix in 2006...so, which is it?

Fabian Cancellara is the winner of Paris - Roubaix 2006, before Tom Boonen and Alessandro Ballan.www.procyclingstats.com
But I see the logical fallacy period of addressing the subject is engaged, as the point I was making still stands. He was 25 in 2006 at the time he won Roubaix. There is a handy feature on PCS. There's a handy feature on this forum, that allows you to address everyone, particularly when the OP made an error. I figured he knew what he was talking about. Guess I shouln't trust him, or the other guy who thinks Wout was 27 the entirety of 2006?
