what do you do after you win a medal in the omnium? wait 4 years and hope it is in the olympics again? Viviani can go back to his road career, Kluge to the 6-days, but the rest are never going to win a kilo, pursuit, points race, at a World Cup, Revolution, or World Championships.
leave the omnium back at the local velodromes where it belongs.

I was thinking about this and although I would much prefer to see most of the events in the omnium as their as own events it does not look like this is going to happen. By including it in the Olympic programme you, as a spectator, get to see many more events for the price of one medal. Not ideal but better than nothing.

I really hope they sit down and review the track programme ahead of Rio because it is truncated and far too many good riders have been left at home, despite the best efforts of the French and Germans. Re-introducing the IP at the very least, and at least either an individual Points, Scratch or Madison as a marquee endurance track event would go some way to redressing the sprint-heavy balance of the Olympic meet which leaves it some way short of the World Championship event both in terms of quality of riders and variety of events. The omnium is lazy way of lumping together a load of great indiviual events into a 'Now That's What I Call Track Cycling'-esque compilation

I agree, a few years ago people were looking forward to Phinney v Thomas/Wiggins in the IP, that would have been a race.

Amen to that.

laura trott did some crazy moves today.chapeau!

kenny did what was already expected.awesome sprints, bauge had no chance.
From watching her competing in that event a few times that looks like her speciality. Always a great race to watch.

Kenny was stronger that I expected. I had Bauge down to take that. However, he tends to not recover too well so not sure if that had much of an effect.

How Awesome was Kenny.. Never in any Danger . So much juice in the Tank.
Impressive... Complete GB Whitewash.. Pity Pennders and Varnish were D/Q in the Team Sprint as that was a Gold Nailed on as Well.. Go GB.. Nice Work Guys.

Bauge questions Kenny's preparation

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/bauge-leads-press-conference-following-sprint-defeat

I'm sure the GB team are all world class trackies. But to respond to Bauge the GB team had some advantages including:
- Lots of spectator support
- Confidence based on proceeding team member success
- Intimate knowledge of the track including knowing best tire/pressure, gear combinations and track surface quirks
- Availability of normal (for them) diet foods.

kinda disrespectful of Bauge to insinuate that Kenny beat him not with strength or tactics, but with something unknown. we all know what your smirk was implying and your last comment 'I don't think he is stronger'
it sure looked like he was stronger throughout the entire olympics
lost a little respect for Bauge
gained a lot of respect for Njisane Phillip and Jimmy Watkins

Love Laura, such a great competitor but also just a lovely character. He reaction to winning gold in the TP was so genuine and full of charm, and she rides like an effing boss! She won the Devil at the last worlds in similar fashion, very clever at positioning and timing her run. Hope she wins the Omnium now

come on, they just smashed their opponents, no way you could expect results like that
I did, it is their home olympics, that is always a motivating factor, and for the last few years they have been on a noticeable rise. they have a ton of money behind them in that program, guys like Thomas devoting so much to win gold, really not surprising at all.
Australia's lack of form is the only thing surprising, so I blindly accuse them of smoking pot and drinking too much.

and what really is annoying about Bauge is that he sees Jason all the time, he could ask him away from the media what he did to gain the extra speed in the last year (if that was really what he wanted to know, like he claimed)
so sick of all the doping innuendos every time someone kicks a little ***, such a cop out for getting beat

Bourgain out, wow, he looked so strong. Keirin is merciless, one small mistake and you're done.
Did Bourgain slow down on purpose? I did not get to see the replay.

Laura Trott double gold medalist. Not bad for 20(?) years old.

Who would have thought that the BBC commentators would have seen nothing wrong with that? It's not like them.
