Cracker of a team sprint final. Both teams went quicker than their qualifying and first round times. As a Kiwi, disappointed the result didn't go our way but can't complain about the quality of the race at all!

Great time by Denmark in the pursuit, Lasse Norman was a beast. Leading almost for the entire last kilometer and going faster than New Zealand and Australia still.

Denmark also has the two youngest participants in the men's track event with Niklas Larsen and Frederik Madsen (who messed up and dropped off after 2,5 k). Looking very bright for the future

Gutted there, totally had the Aussies on the ropes until they broke up

The good thing is that Norman is in great shape to defend his olympic title in omnium.

Impressive world record by GB there. It cannot be too long before they break past 3:50.
Looks like the final podium will be 1. GB, 2. Aus, 3. Den.

The third man - Doull I think - nearly lost it for Britain with a bad change, and it was a great performance from Australia: prematurely down to three yet still broke the old world record.

The Austrian coverage of the race was so bad that it was funny. The commentator didn't get anything and spent the whole time only talking about how much stronger than everyone else GB is not noticing that the race was actually close. When the Aussies were in front he even thought that +0.4 for GB means that Britain is 0.4 seconds in front. When he noticed that it's not like that he stopped to talk about who is in front and only compared the split times to the WR split, and since GB was very fast he took that as the reason to talk about how good GB is, although Australia was ofc also extremely good compared to the WR time, but he ignored that.
The race wasn't shown live so I guess the commentary wasn't recorded during the race so the commentator already knew the result which is why he only talked about GB's greatness. It was actually pretty boring because I basically already knew who would win before the race even started.

I read your first line as : "The Australian coverage of the race was so bad that it was funny."

The omnium starts today. Should be fun with Gaviria, O'Shea, Kluge, Hansen, Viviani and Cav, and a few other guys too.

Well we can see here who made their homework. Most of the peleton sprinted a lap too early and Gav was the only one to realize it, Cav followed as he saw Gaviria come through with speed.

Aha, thankyou.

I could have sworn that whoever finished first of the bunch in the Scratch race (ahead of Cavendish) was in a dark skinsuit, whereas Gaviria's Colombian kit is nearly all white. How come they have Gaviria down as 5th?

So was Gaviria clear of the group? If so, I didn't spot him on camera at all. That would also mean that Cavendish got up to be first of the bunch, which isn't what I thought I saw either.

No.... The sprint you saw was the penultimate lap for everyone except the four riders who lapped everyone. Even the cameras didn't realise so you didn't see the actual sprint. Only Gaviria was on the ball enough to keep riding (and Cav realised belatedly and got on his wheel).

If you can watch a replay look at the top of the track just after the sprint and you'll see Gaviria in the lead.
