Olympics Doping Thread

Daily Mail never fails with a good headline:

He caused this horror crash that left a rival in hospital and then 'threatened' a Dutch journalist who questioned him over it. So, was Cavendish lucky to walk away from the velodrome with an Olympic silver medal?

Zonneveld wrote: 'First of all, the British press didn't pose Cavendish the question whether he should have been DQ'd (disqualified) for his move.

'So I did. I showed him the rerun on my laptop. Cavendish asked me: 'The guy wasn't Dutch, was he?' Me: 'What?'

'Me: 'Would you care to comment on that move?' Cav: 'I could sue you for that, do you know that?' Me: 'What for? Asking a question?' And then he walked away, cursing.'

So Vogel after gushing about brits and being mediocre till yesterday suddenly destroys everyone , including her own saddle. Good german steak last night lol.

And it's not over yet, watch Eilers do the same thing , from mediocre to win in 24 hours.

Tbf, personally, if I was clean and suspected others for doping, I'd call them out for it, and if I were doping myself too, I'd just stay quiet. Then again, Vogel might just be a massive hypocrite, but I'd prefer to give her the benefit of the doubt until I see any connections to dodgy doctors

No, still not possible to do. If the track is to remain the same distance and the curves are 180 degrees, the length of the straights cannot change. If you cut the curve in half (through the cross section of the curve) then the straights will become longer but so will the length of the track.

Per my original statement:

That is a question of mathematics; Can a velodrome track of equal length have desperate sized lengths and curves if each curve is 180c? The answer is no. It’s not possible.

If the curvature is not constant wouldn't you be able to take some length from one turn and add to the other? If you overdo it it will look funny though, but how is that impossible?

Whatever happens now with that ridiculous keirin final, something has to be done about this sport.

Yeah, it needs to be removed from the Olympics lol.

Jason Kenny has one less gold medal than Usain Bolt.

Can we have a discussion about Chinese domination of table tennis?

When did the Chinese begin to dominate Table Tennis?

Is it not their national sport?

Did all their athletes win medals?

Why all the questions? I was hoping for a reasoned analysis.

China - population of one billion people

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that there is 'something' behind it. My only mild curiosity is whether that something is illegal or not. I vaguely remember Brailsfraud saying something along the lines of 'everything that isn't illegal is okay'. Could there be 'something' in that grey area of 'not been outlawed yet'?

They could of course all be doped up to the eyeballs. I believe they are, frankly. But it is difficult to care when sport has become such a joke. Plus I can't help but wonder at the sheer amount of time effort and money which has gone into stringing 50 medals around a few athletes necks.

There's a lot more to dominating a sport than a large population and thus a large talent pool

Sure there is. It is called corruption and doping.

We have seen it all at the olympics.

That insinuates the other athletes didn't bother to train as hard or are not as dedicated. I don't believe that for a second.

Do other countries have the lion's share of £350m thrown at specific sports like cycling?

In the first instance it seemed Kenny may not have broken the rules but it was incredibly close, the second time looked worse but I guess after not DQing Kenny in the first case they could not DQ in the second case.

UCI breaking it own rules to ensure Jason Kenny stayed in final.

Why only single out Kenny?

Keirn Silver medal winner Büchli saying: "Normally they (all 3) would have been DQd."

I guess nations like Russia and China have more thrown at specific sports.
