Some small prologues and a Vuelta stage pop to mind. Not exactly mind blowing?
Dutch elite champion road racing and TT, when he was still a U23 rider. World champion TT U23. A Vuelta stage and the Tour of Belgium in his first season as a pro. Paris-Nice prologue and GP Jef Scherens in his second season, which was disappointing but not altogether bad.

if boom was belgian you wouldn't be surprised. seriously I'm the last guy here to defend dutch riders as I don't care at all for nationality but you guys are really pathetic. everything you do you measure to the netherlands. it's like the austria-germany fights on message boards but far worse.

know just this. dutch people really don't care. in the olympics we get 25 medals we never look at how many you have because we just don't care. now tell me why do you (in general a bit) care so much to beat us?

I would fancy a bet. :)

I say Lars Boom will not have won The Amstel GR, Paris-Roubaix and the Tour stage on the Champs-Élysées by 2013. I feel fairly confident about my odds.

Why wouldn't I be surprised if he were Belgian? If you tell me the same about Boonen, I'd also say it's extremely unlikely. Same goes for any other rider in the world.

I'd be surprised if Greg ever won a big classic.

And it's not hard to get medals in sports almost no one does :p
Hence why cyclocross is not an olympic sport and many more should be scrapped. And Dutch people don't care? Every time I meet a Dutch person they start bringing up football up to the point that it's getting extremely sad.

So your Dutch Colombian? Like DAOTEC? I never knew there was such a big Colombian population in Holland

Why are the Dutchies so hateful towards us?

Is it because I'm a lazy Walloon that I had never felt such hatred before I registered on CN? :p

I'm no fan of Langeveld (fixing of the NK with Boogerd) but he was definitely the strongest last Saturday (he won a mens sprint because he was the freshest and not the fastest).

Whenever a Dutchie wins, I feel like a compatriot wins. I'm a proud Citizen of the Low Countries. Don't forget we share our only PT stage race. :D My dad was a Cruyff fan. He could name every player of the Oranje team back then.

Boom will one day come back to cyclocross. He already announced his presence in Overijse next year [Edit: I meant Koksijde, WC]. That's not downgrading. I think he can combine cross and road. De Vlaeminck also dropped cyclocross for a few years when he was young but when he had enough body to combine cross and road, he did it.

Surely, Boom was close to dominating the 2007/2008 season.

Moreover, for every Belgian but Pistolero, Ghent-Ghent is a presitigious one-day race and Saturday's race results weren't flattering for the Belgians, neither was yesterday's race, for the Dutch-speaking part. :D

wtf?
Who's bringing the nationality in the discussion? You, it seems.

Boom is a great rider, one of the most talented in the peloton, no doubt.
I'm rather sure he will win classics in his career.
Winning PR and AGR ánd Champs in the next 2 year would be very impressive though, even for him. I agree with Boomcie on that.

What this has to do with nationality? No idea, I would say the same about EBH or Sagan. (Or Gilbert, at their age)

edit: i had no idea Boom is closer to Gilbert in age than to Sagan

I never said the Omloop wasn't prestigious. But we have cyclists that can actually win the only races that matter in the spring season: Milano- San Remo, De Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix, Amstel Gold Race and Luik-Bastenaken-Luik. Hence it doesn't matter how many Belgians failed at the Omloop, it doesn't matter for them. It's too early to be in top form and you can't win the Omloop without being in top form. And that was my original point I made before the Dutchies started to wet in their panties.

And as a Walloon I suppose you're used to resentment by now.

Your exactly like Harmonn. Gilbert wins Amstel Gold and all of a sudden AGR becomes a monument.

I know for sure that had the roles been reversed and Vino won AGR while Gilbert Liege, AGR would have been a nothing race and all hail king Gilbert greatest cyclist ever bla bla bla.

No? I would have also named Fleche Wallone, but Gilbert can't win that thus no Belgian can win it.

5 monuments
3 classics(FW, AGR, and G-W)
countless of semi classics

It's the way it is.

Swimming? Yeah, no one does that.

Not hard to get a lot of medals in swimming no. So if there's a swimming culture in your country you're picking up a lot of extra medals you just can't win in a sport like cycling.

6 medals vs 500100000000 medals?(cycling vs swimming)

Ask the Belgian swimmers ;)

(sorry, too easy)

There's no swimming culture in Belgium. No one cares for swimming here thus a lot of people don't swim competitive.

I didn't even know we had professional swimmers in Belgium. Must be some popular sport here.

Belgium is cycling, motocross, cyclocross, horse riding(Belgian horses are very good), tennis, athletics, etc

Also football of course, but we suck at that.

AGR is big since it was a World Cup race. It's not something of the past few years.
