Anyone else having trouble with NBC Sports app. By the time stage 1 became available there were only 10k left. Stage 2 came on with 20k left. The replays are 2 hours long. Is it just me?

Tomoorrow's stage. No rain in the afternoon, might be some in the morning. Winds similar to today, about 20-25kmh.

The best part of the stage was at the time Pinot was dropped (not because he was dropped, I like him fine) where only three riders were in the front group: Sagan, Schachmann and Pedersen.

Three world champions.

One of the past, one of the present, one of the future.

Higuita looks hilarious on the bike, especially surrounded by guys like Asgreen and Vanmarcke, but according to wikipedia he has 54kgs at 1,63m, which seems surprisingly burly for someone like him, which may explain his rouleur abilities. Can he timetrial too?

Everybody will say no, but it has never really been tested.

But he sure can sprint.

Too bad Schachmann already has a thread. Otherwise you could make a Time to give Schachmann a thread before he becomes World Champion thread. Which, I guess, would cause him to not become World Champion.

Yes. I watched the replay. It looked like Sagan attacked with Schachmann and Pederson at his wheel. Stuyven with Nibali and Politt where the first to close the gap. Then Ackermann together with Grosschartner closed the gap. Nizzoli, Higuita, Neilands and Würtz Schmidt where on the Bora wheels. The strongest just bridged across.

Man, you gotta love PN these days with what seems like endless kms of action. Congrats to Nizzolo, who is probably happy to be on the road these days and this in more ways than one.

But Schachmann first German world champion since Rudi Altig 54 years ago? I'll take it.

What I like about him (apart from being a great rider) is that he went through the whole junior and U23 ranks. He was always a strong rider in those categories but still chose not to step up to the pros ahead of time, which has become a rareity for the big talents nowadays. Perhaps this is also because farm teams are not really en vogue anymore and the pro teams lost that measure to tie young talents to their franchise.

I think the fear for the cancellation of the race is actually adding to the excitement of the race these first few days (apart from obviously the weather).

Stuyven says in Belgian media that 90% of the riders in the peloton expect that the race won't continue until Nice. I guess riders are much more willing to race all out while they still have the chance.

PS: I hope I didn't jinx it and we're not getting a really boring stage today. :grimacing:

There will be some relativley short but heavy cross wind parts. The last part will probably also be in crosswinds.

Towards the end you can also see that Stuyven leading out Nibali is probably the only reason why Sagan, Pedersen and Schachmann didn't get clear.
