Not quite as bad as on Jebel Hafeet but another disappointing climbing performance from UAE. Once again after a dominant performance in a TT (this time TTT).
If it wasn't for his great TT I would argue that McNulty is better suited for hilly one day races. Expected result for Almeida on a short ramp. Vine and Fisher-Black working for their teammates but not enough to explain why they dropped as eary as they did.

With Pogacar ducking by doing the Giro I'm afraid the le tour is absolutely over watching proceedings today. 3 Week Procession incoming.
Pogacar will waste so much energy doing long attacks on giro because he can't help himself, remco looks not too strong, gall can't TT, Roglic looks really weak and an incompetent leader. I think you are right.

I'm going to keep the faith that Simon Yates finally finds where he left his 2018 training logs.

Doesn't bode well for Tirreno.

So Buitrago wins, congrats! Also good performance by Plapp, the new leader. UAE not that strong today, lost their whole advantage basically. Remco attacked at the end and gained a couple of seconds. Primoz kinda...stomped (by Remco and co), not the best finish by him.

I think people have short memories (or they get caught up in the 'supermen' hype).

That stage was nowhere near hard enough for real separation from the bunch. Just look at the huge number of riders in the front group or thereabouts in the final 1km.

It's like one of those Vuelta stages which on paper makes people think the gradients & succession of climbs can lead to fireworks... but in the end there's a large bunch who do a small rush to the line behind some solo breakaway winner.

We've seen this a million times.

Both Plapp and Buitrago were way stronger than I expected at the final climb. They had been on their own for quite a significant time (descent or not, they still had to really push) and barely lost anything to the chasers at the final climb. Platt done very well to do his own pace. Really happy for both of them that it payed off, GC lead and stage win, perfect result.
Neither Remco nor Roglic looking too great right now. Remco looks better but losing out to Skjelmose as well as barely getting a gap to the rest shows that he's quite off his LBL peak form where he just drops everyone off his wheel. Roglics stomp totally non existent so far in a Bora kit.
To be fair remco did say that he will do a slow spring build without altitude training and will only go for peak form at Liege. Roglic meanwhile just came from Teide and has been absolutely flying at this point in the season for the last 5 years

Well done by Plapp and Buitrago, they rode with guts and had the legs to pull it off.
Remco... he did well as in: control it, but don't force it.
All others (those for GC): a bit underwhelming, but for sure not gone. I wonder if Buitrago could be a factor.

I still feel we have a wide open race with the stages on Saturday (if it goes) and Sunday.

How confident were you that he'd win? ~90 %?

If so, and his odds were 1.7, you should bet no more than ~76 % of your funds.

More than 90 for sure. I thought it was a stupidly high odds but unfortunately I am too much of a chicken to actually have put my house (which I don't have) on the line.

His odds was 1.8.

And what are those numbers? Something random or an actual formula?

I don't even want to hear it anymore some delusional fans like "elos troll" claiming these guy can beat in normal conditions guys like Pogacar and Vingegaard in the Tour.

The only things that he does in the last months since September, is dropping his own teammates, and burn is team to not let scaroni going to far, and even in the last 500 m he can't do anything.
I've never met a poster who hated a rider as much as you hate Rogla. As much as you write about negative riders - well you seem to be a negative poster.

But say what you will, Roglic eventually will decline, it's just a law of nature. Maybe it will be this year, maybe in 5 years. But it will happen with 100% certainty. Most cycling legends have lived to see their decline on the road with only select few being able to stop while still on top, keeping their decline out of public eye. And on that day, you can have your 5 minutes and let your frustrations go free. But know this: it really tells us more about yourself than about Roglic.

Is it ok that I said that, or do you feel I'm picking on you again?
