If I had to blame someone, the Red Bull rider in front of Hoole did not do a lot to warn him. Had he followed his own rider, there would have been no crash.

Other riders were pointing to the danger.

Hoole skipped over.

Skjelmose was following his wheel, but late decided to not follow him over it and slipped. Skjelmoses teammate took another line that he was tryna switch to, but it was too late to correct.

I dont think you can blame Hoole for that.

It was just unfortunate.

No the RB rider skipped over. Hoole noticed last second and swerved to his right, when Skjelmose followed his swerve it was too late.

You do realise most races aren't exactly printing money?

It is ASO, they do not make close to the amount of money people think they make, but if there's one organization that doesn't just breakeven or has losses it's ASO.

In general organisation go bankrupt all over tho, so yes in general organizers simply do not have a lot of money, more, they go bankrupt. Even in Belgium as you can see with Circuit de Wallonie, Leuven (stage in Renewi now which is great honestly) and Druivenkoers. The costs for a race (and that' mainly because of increased safety) are too high nowadays.

Honestly, i wouldn't be against a ban on bunny hopping road furniture. It blindsides riders behind and causes crashes all the time.
Yes and do something about the constant bike/pedestrian path riding. And grass and roundabouts and what have you. I know riding on the path to avoid cobbles in de Ronde goes way back to the very beginning, but it was never a good thing.

Uh, sure. Riders should just crash on them then because they're not allowed to jump them??

Most of the time, they do it because they see it too late, not because they're tailwhipping for the show like Del Grosso on a cyclocross race.

Isn’t PN aso?

You can bet they see a cost benefit analysis on rider safety measures. Any good business can write down profits to nil

You need two pole stanchions and a flag/signal mechanism over the danger. These can be reused across a calendar
I would be surprised if things overhead impinge much on riders' awareness: their attention is not focussed on things 3 metres above the ground.

You just suspend a signal a few meters before the actual danger. Organizers make plenty of money to manage this. Riders see everything above and nothing too far ahead or to the side.
Suspend from what? Do you imagine something like a 1 km to go banner over every curb and bit of road furniture? Having driven (not ridden) in France frequently, those middle of the road curbs are everywhere—sometimes annoyingly so even for drivers.

Every bit of it where the peloton cannot pass through without splitting the group, that can end a cyclists career or life.
