Geraint Thomas trashes the rest of the field @15km's with a time of 17:37, looks like he is setting the pace today.

I think we will see quite a difference between the intermediate standings and the final standings, so it'll be interesting to see whether he can keep it up

I'm gonna take the bus up there at 15:00 now, would have gone earlier but was still in class

G really is on excellent form right now, I wish he was heading to M-SR rather than track worlds after this.

Looks like winning time will be somewhere around 32 minutes if GT is indication. Should be possible to lose a few minutes on an offday, ought to become interesting.

Not great for Jos van Emden. Only 3rd.
He had a great run of form after the Giro which got him the national title, but he's far from the best Dutch time trialist. Westra and Tjallingii are the Dutchies to look out for here.

and I was wayyyy off. GT finishes at 35:25 (I kinda forgot the second half was slightly uphill some of the way). But also looks like GT may have burned out a bit towards the end?

edit: and GT did the finishing 12km's in 40.4 km/h average, thats a 10km/h drop, which sounds like a bit more than slightly uphil, maybe he simply started too fast?

Geraint Thomas (SKY) 35:25 sets the best new time.
Grivko should be the next rider to watch out for.

Confused. He was only 17th in ToC?

youngest, not for the first time, has intelligently disguised a correct quote, about his beloved dutchland, as a joke/ hyping up/ compliment.

Sure hes mocking eneco for being the mother of all stage races wink rolleyes tc but what he means is that eneco is the last stage race, pt anyway.

What times do the big boys start out, im 1 and a half hours from home and want to know if its worth rushing it?

The last part of the ITT went much slower with the average speed of hte whole thing dropping to 45.7 km/h for Thomas. The climb is in the second half so we might see some big diffrences between the halfway point and the finish. For example Thomas was 33 seconds faster than Riblon in the first part but only 5 seconds faster in the part with the climb.

Yeah, its not obvious from the letour profile how steep the climb is. Im guessing 4.5km from the split point to the top, gaining 200 metres? Looks like one part of it is very steep. Not sure if Thomas went off too fast or whether Riblon being a better climber than flat rider made the difference. Maybe a combination of the two.

Westra destroys Thomas checkmark by 15 seconds

Westra was already 2nd in the Algarve TT only 5 seconds behind Martin. Could be a dark horse today
