Wow, Westra MUCH faster over the climb than Thomas. Talansky and Tjallingi are both very close at the first split so Westra's time might not last long.

Thomas tweeted to say he could have done with a 56 on the front. I'm guessing that is for the first part of the course.

Talanksy second at the finish, only 8 seconds back, Jens Voigt fifth at the first split, Tjallingii gone third at the finish only a few seconds ahead of Thomas, and 51 seconds behind Talansky

So... Talansky eased off big yesterday to save up for this?

I never considered him a good TT guy. Decent... sure. But more of a Danny Pate level (who was over 3 minutes back).

Ok, so Tjallingii loses 1 minute in the second part. But Talansky keeps pretty much on par with Westra. Amazing!

talasnky impressed me ever sicne he was teh only oen that could keep up a little with nairo quintana in avenir climbing itt, was I think less than a minute behind.

Isn't he the US U23 champion TT?

BTW I don't think as a climber he'd save up for this... if you can keep up, you keep up, if you have such a TT to rely on.

Here we go

Off-topic but does anyone know what quintana is doing now?

On-topic, Voigt goes 5th at the finish, 1.13 down. Uran 17th at the split before the climb. Interesting to see what difference the climb makes to his position at the end. Van Summeren fourth now at the split.

Bretagne-Schuller once again showing they should never have been invited to this race. They're all more than four minutes down.

Van Garderen will probably do very well today.

Well, yeah... but only because Phinney didn't ride it.

Pate was a former U23 national and world champion in the ITT. In this year's under 23 ITT, the next finishers were Carter Jones, David Williams, Nathan Brown and Alister Radcliffe. Not exactly a who's who of cycling.

I thought marking him at a Pate level was a reasonable estimate. Apparently I was wrong.

That Talansky boy is really good again.

Looking forward to see him grow up.
America's finest GT hope next to TJ I think.
