Slow down.

I was comparing the 5km intermediate times. Not the final times. Porte was 7secs faster than Wiggins at 5km.

You read should next time.
And what was the intermediate time? Right, 11 minutes. This isn't comparable to a pursuit in any way, shape, or form.

Have some common sense
Common sense tells me that the current world record holder at the pursuit, Jack Bobridge, is a very mediocre road rider. Someone like Cancellara has way more Watts, and consequently I think if he'd focus on it (which he'll never do) he'd be able to break that record.

Bobridge is quite a young road rider who has been focusing on his track career a lot. Of course he is not as good as Cancellara but he does have crippling cases of arthritis.

Congrats to Porte- a phenomenal ride and great that he won.

Nice rides by Talansky, Quintana and Peraud.

I hated reading TJVG's comments. They congratulated Porte- but also hypothesised as to why he lost, AGAIN.
Porte was so strong for the rest of last year after riding Algarve, I'm sure he will devote his professional approach and still do a good job for his team, in the process dropping riders like TJVG again.
Maybe i am reading too much into it...

no they didn't. it was the same
only from 2008 to 2011 they climbed that one

They put the KOM point at 1.5 km to the finish relative to the this TT, I thought they were descending the false flat instead of climbing it. Well, sorry about that, I was tricked by the profile of that stage

Domestique + doping < Big talent + doping

porte is no big talent? besides the point is, why would they dope one half of the team and the other half, just as important (knees, ebh, uran, henao etc) not

What don't you create a poll next door, in the clinic? You'll find out how easy is to answer that question.

I take the clinic about as serious as your average borderline woman in an asylum

Porte is based in Nice right. Must know that climb bloody well. Plus this is one of the few times he'll be let off the leash and allowed to race for himself. That must have been hugely motivating.

because you say so?
post the source of this.

I made a small calculating mistake, but I explain it

quintana did 4100 metres at 3.5% average(2nd part 163 metres altitude difference in 4100 metres) 7.48 minutes(had it 7:40, my mistake) he rode it and he's 167x60 kg, which is 5,9 watt (and not 6,1)

porte same thing except he did it in 7:52 and he's 172x70 kg, which makes 5,6 watt

but I'm sure this goes far above your head

According to Ryo Rujano did 7.0 W/kg in the '06 Tour prologue

Don't trust numbers from Ryo...

he did over 10 watt in tour 2006 prologue

lol you clealry haven't got a clue about how it works. a rider in an 8 minute flat effort can do 10 watt

Porte is much lighter, isn't he? 63 instead of 70 would make Porte's power in W/kg somewhat higher. Although I doubt both's weight in this case, they're often far from reliable.

Did you compare their aerodynamic profile? Lots of air resistance involved at 3.5%.
