Men's 4x400m final coming up a bit later... I know Quincy Wilson is a 16yr. old phenom, but not sure I'd want him to run in the final because it was bad enough fingers were pointing at him because he was a bit slow in the heat and the rest of the team really had to make up for it... maybe he had a bad day, but ultimately I think he's just too young and inexperienced to be partaking in the pressure of the relay finale. If he does start and one of the other team members drops or messes up the baton though at least all the heat will be off of Quincy Wilson.

Whoever thought he should be the first runner should be fired, that was idiotic.

Barshim and Tamberi lining up for the high jump final, hopefully Tamberi is feeling well enough after suffering kidney stones a few days back.

Impressive stuff by Australia, the Netherlands and New Zealand with their medal haul. Australia is currently 3rd, with 3rd most golds, and by the looks of it, that won’t change. The Dutch doing well again, racking up medals in a whole host of sports and the Kiwis with less than 6 million people are 11th, with 17 medals (8 gold). Good stuff.

Tamberi not looking good in his first two jumps, at least he's giving it a go though even though he may not be at his best right now.

Did you stab yourself in the toe?
There were a few times I thought I was close to impaling myself because the jav just didn't go where I wanted it to go. (It went straight up and then straight down instead of going forward.)

There's definitely a well-rehearsed technique to throwing the jav, the pros just make it look easy.

but he has probably already done more jumps than ever before in a competition, the commentator on my feed said ;)

Ooooh, women's 1500m final now!

Hope Laura Muir does well, I'm pulling for her. (She loves animals and is educated as a vet, so when she's done with running she has a career working with animals to look forward to.)
