I would not call him an outsider. I think he's on tier 2 with Pedersen and van Baarle. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner comes out of these three.
Surely you can't give Ganna more than one star. Aside from finishing 10th at E3 miles off that best, what has Ganna done on the cobbles to show that he's a contender here now? I'm disregarding MSR because that's a completely different race.

I wouldn't give more than one star to Ganna either. He still has to prove he can win a tough classic. He hasn't ever come close to doing that so far.

Well, he was very strong last year, he could have fought for the win without mechanical problems + won the u23 edition of Roubaix in 2016

Btw, according to the bookies, he is the fourth biggest favourite on Sunday.

Meanwhile for some reason they are trying to dry the track faster. Are they crazy?

Ah so these guys weren't just randomly drying the track like I thought. They were making art. This is just at the entrance of Arenberg.

don't think he is on van der Poel's level, but using the fixed system they do (one 5-star-rider, two with 4, and so on), it's not so easy, to be honest. Van Baarle's shape is a bit of an uncertainty, and Pedersen, Ganna and Asgreen together have one Top 40 in Roubaix. I'd struggle to single one out as well. Maybe Küng, but he doesn't look quite as strong as last year, so far, so 4 stars would be too much as well.
I would easily put Pedersen ahead of Ganna. He is clearly on form and he has a strong sprint, in fact he could plausibly beat both crossers in the velodrome.

Nothing. But apparently Ganna is seen as some demigod that doesn't have to prove himself in a certain race before he is an obvious favourite.

yeah, maybe, but there's of course reason to be sceptical. Roubaix always offers possibilities to recover from "bad luck", so no one with his abilities should have a record this bad.

In the end, Walscheid will beat both of them anyway, btw ;)

Exactly. Van Aert always has bad luck in this race but somehow manages to find his way back to ride the finale.

Apparently only Laporte, Van Baarle and Affini will use the pressure system.

Screams absolute confidence in it.
Actually, Tim van Dijke should be Jumbo's secret card tomorrow, he's their's Ganna and was good on cobbles this season

Huh, I remember Ganna wasting a lot of energy early on in the race out of nervousness or inexperience.

Stranger things have happened, but with the exception of someone like Colbrelli the best indicator of someone's ability to win here is consistency in this race. I'd be far less surprised if Politt won than Ganna, for example.

And different rides indicate future rides differently.

The original question was what was his achievement on the cobbles. I mentioned the u23 race which was a nice win, he dropped everyone in his group with strong acceleration and had a huge lead after Hem. So it's not like he's a newbie here..
