It certainly hasn’t helped with all the early drama decimating the race before we barely hit the cobbles. Nor has the loss of Wout, Stuyven in previous weeks. But even so, this is ridiculously dominant.
The perfect weather conditions have removed a key variable. Barely even a puff of dust.

It must be so, so demoralizing for a pro to race in situations like this. One rider just torching everyone, and his team so apparently strong they can smother everything with ease.

I remember in the 90s being in race situations that were somewhat similar. Where somebody would just take off and even though we would try as hard as we could, in team pursuit manner, we were getting dropped hard. Eventually, we just gave up.

Sieberg on German ES says he hasn't seen VdP eat for a while, and speculates he might forget to eat Could make it interesting if true, but probably he'll just win by 3-4 minutes.
All the teams calculate intake now and use the sky method to distribute it, there's no randomness in calories anymore
