I think what's important is what the protagonist said. I wouldn't give more weight to what a mere domestique says.
I think the protagonist was very elegant. But we live in an era where everything negative is magnified. Bjerg's opinion would never be more important than his leader's, but his leader sais this; then Bjerg's opinion becomes more interesting because it's controversial.
Except for Legruppeto, all the accounts copy Bjerg's statements, not what their leader says. This is more effective at generating bait.
It's a shame we can't focus on the mutual respect shown in these statements and instead prioritize what Bjerg says. That's how the world works now; toxicity triumphs.
