I wonder, if Gilbert had pushed on when he and Sagan had a gap, would he have this in the bag right now

Please not another QS majority win

I dont really consider this a qs majority win, if gilbert wins.
Why not? They took turns attacking from a group in which they had the majority

Politt made the decisive attack and Gilbert attacked on the cobbles and there it comes down to individual strength. They had 2 guys, which certainly helped.

Oh now only lampaert chasing....that matters

Now Gilbert can stop riding.

Why would he do that? Let Lampaert come back and potentially steal the win?

:surprised:

Eeh... because he has a teammate coming, and can use it as an excuse to let Politt do the work???
Meanwhile it's Politt vs Lampaert, and Gilbert can rest his legs and jump at the right time.

Also the risk that lampaert rides away, risk for Gilbert individually.

Politt would be a deserved winner and all but Gilbert winning would simply be amazing. Really rooting for him

He doesn't need an excuse. He's faster in the sprint.
