During the entire race, Langeveld and Vanmarcke had been riding with the other's number on the bike. That accounts foe the fact that Vanmarcke was in 9th in the provisional result.

Similar thing happened to Robbie McEwen one year when an official tried to stop him on the velodrome...........of course McEwen ignored him and finished his lap.

There were times I almost believed Gilbert only had a brief stroke of greatness...then he became the best riders on cobble in the last two years.
But honestly I wanted Pollit to somehow win the duel, what a ride by him.
And about Sagan, can't help wondering whether he will ever be the same again. Is this another off season story or a real start of early decline. Or maybe he will have another coming like Gilbert someday.

I think the "great story" comment was referring to the fact that Siskevicius progressed an hour for the following year. Quite unbelievable.

Plus he has a WC win, something Kelly hasnćt got. That's 5 out of 6 biggest one-day races in cycling. Legend!

Vanmarcke changed bikes five kilometres from the finish line. Apparently too difficult for the organisers to observe.

Great win by Gilbert and a fine second by Politt. Looks like San Remo now for Gilbert. Sagan was right about his form going into the race. Quickstep managed what they couldn't do last week.

Yeah I know that. McEwen was also late and last to finish and they were not going to let him onto the velodrome. Obviously the Siskevicius story was more dramatic and what a turnaround in 12 months. Hats off to him.

Got to feel for Politt. He rode the nearly perfect aggressive Paris-Roubaix. Timing his attacks brilliantly, closing gaps whenever necessary and even sitting up to wait when it was the right thing to do.

Just got out-manoeuvred in the last 2km.
