Why doesn't Quickstep do their favorite 1-2 tactic, since they got Gilbert and Lampaert in the front group?

Too son for this. They would it the last 20km I think.

Sagan has it again.
Sagan's sprinting at the end of a hard race is pretty unpredictable, to put it mildly. And he knows it. He'll try to go solo I think, which could backfire.

if Wout is the leader of Visma then why he was not helped by a teammate earlier?
Could have used that energy now
I guess the thinking was that if a teammate would have come back to help, WVA would have dropped them immediately on the cobbles anyway. - given the power he need to put out to make up the ground. Then they would have been out of the race. Better keep them up front so they could be of some use later.

Yup, this

Yes, and thank god, because they've been very helpful since he came back.

Great edition of the race so far. Perfectly poised with a group of six, all of whom have decent cards to play to win.

Nice group, don't mind anyone of them winning. Would like to see PhilGil do it for a chance at all 5 monuments, but don't see how we he can win MSR now that Nibali moves will all be marked.

Some of these lower-star-rated sections look really *** hard too, but I guess it's easiert if they are short enough to just power through.

Sure, why risk any of them (there were 3 or 4 of them in the front at that moment) KNOWING they could be helping on the flat sections, for an off chance they MIGHT be able to help later, IF he isn't cooked by then. Genious.
