Men: I guess Boonen
Women: Never done before

I had forgot he did it during his last win as well. Being a fan of Sven Fischer in biathlon, it's always nice to see it being done in cycling as well. I myself however is the kind of person who wouldn't even ride to the supermarket without them.

That's not my point: some of the crashes looked like bones were broken.
So 5 DNF's is really surprising, it either means all of those nasty crashes didn't result in too much real damage, or (and probably more logic): the numbers are wrong.
There are more than 5...my post was before the full results were posted. Still, a few over 20 DNF's, and yeah, some of those had to have been the nasty crashes. It was a skating rink in sections.

Btw what's the biggest race thread we've had for a womens race?

The Olympic RR had 27, but I guess there were special circumstances involved ;)

Actually seeing how this race went on and how many people seemed to have been engaged both beforehand and during it (though the magic of it being the first edition obviously won't reappear), I have changed my mind; now I actually want it to be raced the day before the men's race instead of on the same date in the future as well.

Impressive solo by Deignan. It's a pity that the first PR Femmes was already decided before the broadcast started. Vos was the strongest on cobbles, but she didn't make up much on the asphalt. Someone like Deignan shouldn't get two minutes. It went from one to two minutes very fast. Where were the helpers of Jumbo to limit the difference?

It's a pity for those who had bad luck, especially D'hoore in her farewell race; but that's Paris-Roubaix. This certainly tastes like more for the coming years!

What a ride by Deignan ! Impressive control of her bike on the cobbles, with no gloves on. Hats off !
Sad we did not get coverage since the first sector.
Managed to get there barely on time (damn headwind). Going so fast on wet cobbles is so impressive. There was already ~20min between first and last @40k to go. I guess most tried to finish the 1st PR.
