I think she surged on the first section of cobbles, and that was it.

They paved the sides on that section. In the past that used to be pretty rough. Therefore the barriers on the sides. Those look quite dangerous if a large group went in there (not likely).

TV screen had distance to next cobbles (or distance to go on next cobbles), and Belgian commentators probably confused this with distance between Deignan and Vos.
The gap has been hand-clocked and is still around 1.15

It's crazy how Vos looks so much faster on the bike but she's making no time. Deignan is really smooth.
