Why...........?

And a month ago he said that the pro tour spot was pretty much certain. If CW told me that grass was green I would look out of the window to double check.

Hardly, but lets not go to that. I think he is legitimate about the race invites and the team had been talking to many different race orgainsers all through last year. I am not CW btw. If they get an invite to TA then it is highly likely they will go to MSR. The team has said that they have invites to some other RCS races.

From what I can gather:

24 riders not including Freiburg who will ride for the conti team:

AVERY Clinton < Team RadioShack (Trainee)
CANTWELL Jonathan < Fly V Australia
CORNU Dominique < Skil - Shimano
CRAWFORD David Jai < Fly V Australia
DAY Ben < Fly V Australia
DENNIS Rohan < Team Jayco - Skins
EICHLER Markus < Team Milram
HUNTER Robert < Garmin - Transitions
IMPEY Daryl < Team RadioShack
KEMPS Aaron < Fly V Australia
KLIMOV Serguei < Team Katusha
KNEES Christian < Team Milram
LAPTHORNE Darren < Rapha Condor - Sharp
LILL Darren < Fly V Australia
LOWE Trent < Garmin - Transitions
MCEWEN Robbie < Team Katusha
MORAJKO Jacek < Mroz - Active Jet
ROBERTS Luke < Team Milram
ROHREGGER Thomas < Team Milram
SULZBERGER Bernard < Fly V Australia
THOMSON Jay Robert < Fly V Australia
TRAKSEL Bobbie < Vacansoleil Pro Cycling Team
TUFT Svein < Garmin - Transitions
ZAJICEK Phil < Fly V Australia

Scott Bikes and Helmets, Zipp Wheels, Bont Shoes
Most likely similar colour scheme to Fly V passible Black-Red instead of White-Red
I only just realised Markus Eichler is at the team so could someone confirm that?
Very Respectable Pro Continental team but will need atleast two or three big signings if they aspire to pro tour next year.

Pegasus not guaranteed to be at the Tour Down Under

shame that the first major Australian team can not compete in the biggest race in Australia.

Is there still a possibility that they will compete there?

Oh dear, I hope News Ltd. do not get involved.

Sure they have lots of money but one only has to look at the NRL...

Good luck to them and it would be great to see an Aussie squad at the top level at last, but that squad is miles away from being pro tour.

I think Porte is the key off contract rider for an Aussie team not to say that they will need to snare some good European riders too.

I was a report of the team on Aussie television and noticed that at 33 seconds into the Chris White interview there is the BMW team car in the background. Out of all the sponsors on the back including Pegasus, V Australia, Merida, Reebok,Youngcare and RBS morgan, Virgin is written in by far the largest font.

For this reason as well as the colour scheme of their bike and helmets are the same as the company's colours, I am reasonably confident to say that the major sponsor will be Virgin.

Thats good. The British team sponsored by an Aussie and the Aussie team sponsored by a Brit

Ah ok. That's 25 with Friedberg then. Should be an interesting squad. Now to hear about the other 2 (womens squad is done) squads and who's on them.

That's the url. ;)

Like the article. CW still very positive and optimistic which I like. My own concern is him saying the wait for a name will be worth it. The hype never is. Apart from that though, if his positive energy flows to the cycling then we will see some good results.

Like this pic too:

And this is why if CW said the grass was green I would go outside to check. If he doesnt even know the story on australias only pro tour race, how can we trust him about Tirreno adriatico etc. I hope pegasus are at the TDU and it would be idiotic if they are not, but CW needs to learn that sometimes its best to say nothing (yes, just like sky)

I cant believe the sponsors, who are relatively big names, are happy at all. The line up is nothing like the world class team promised, they seriously need another 5 class riders, Mcewen and Hunter are all that makes them worth pro conti

the first 3 three riders in the worldranking ( CQ ) from SKY : place 15/57/80 and BMC 6/103/125 , is that great  . there are only a few big names ( contador ??? , schleck 2 , boonen , gilbert , cancellara , hushovd , freire , evans ) for more than 25 teams and thats good , nobody wants 2 big names in 1 team , exp boonen and cancellara in 1 team = no battle in the classics

Yeh, HTC must have hated having Greipel and Cavendish both in the top 15 last year. How frustrating for them.

well its better than Mcewan (34) and Hunter (335) to be fair. I cant be bothered to look for a third rider. I dont understand the confusion.?

McEwen - 34 (4th TDU, 1st Trofeo Mallorca, 4th in a Tirreno sprint, 4th in a Giro sprint, 4th in 5 separate Tour stages, a 1st and a 2nd in Eneco stages, 7th GP Jef Scherens, 2nd Memorial Rik van Steenbergen, 6th GP de Fourmies, 11th Paris-Tours)
Tuft - 108 (8th, Delta Tour Zeeland, national TT, 2nd and a stage in the Tour of Denmark, 5th and a stage at Eneco)
Knees - 121 (11th at Gent-Wevelgem, national RR, 5th in a Tour stage)
Roberts - 188 (5th TDU, 1 stage of Vuelta a Murcía, 5th in a Tour stage)
Cornu - 208 (TT win and 2nd in Ronde van België, 9th in Eneco)
Morajko - 216 (1st Tour of Małopolska, 1st Course de Solidarność, national RR)
Traksel - 274 (1st Kuurne-Bruxelles-Kuurne, 3rd Nokere-Koerse, 3rd Driedaagse van West Vlaanderen)
Hunter - 336 (9th TDU, 2 stage wins in the Vuelta a Murcía, a 3rd in a sprint at Romandie, a 4th in a sprint in California and a 5th in a sprint at the Tour)
Rohregger - 570 (KOM, TDU, 9th in a Giro stage)
Klimov - 637 (9th in a Tour stage)
Thomson - 713 (3rd, Tour of Wellington, a stage win in Langkawi)
Day - 902 (1st, Tour de Beauce)
Cantwell - 930 (comedy from the video of Chicchi outsprinting Cav in California; Phil Liggett actually says, without a hint of irony, "the one man who can ruin things for Columbia here, Jonathan Cantwell. Apologies to Jonathan, but I'm sure he would agree that he isn't likely to be the only man who can beat Cavendish in a field with JJ Haedo, Heinrich Haußler, Tom Boonen and Francesco Chicchi in it...)
Sulzberger - 938
Dennis - 985
Zajicek - 1013 (10th, Tour of California)
Impey - 1027
Avery - 1243
Crawford - 1619
Kemps - 1654
Lowe - 1967
Lill - 2401
Lapthorne - 2935

So actually, they have a few people with decent positions in CQ. The problem is, many of them have their positions inflated by the elevated status of races like the TDU and Eneco Tour, two races which even on CQ pay far more points than their actual worth merits. As a result, you're left with a team with many people who frankly don't merit a ProTeam position or anything like that, but have a reasonable ranking position all things considered. They have a fair few people who've accumulated points that you'd have forgotten all about or that have picked up the points without ever doing anything memorable.
