If it happens, with the exception of mcewan, i guess about half of them would get spots at pro conti level, most of the pro tour squads have pretty full rosters now.

I think any team with a young aspiring sprinter would do well do take on mcewan as a bit of experience/mentor to teach them how to do things.

Worrying storries about Pegasus.

It seems one of their main sponsors (Gilette?) has withdrawn support from the project and there are rumors the managers of some of the riders have already offered their cyclist to other teams...

Mcewen will stay with them. He wants to become apart of the development there next year.

I have feeling that Gilette was never the sponsor but it was VIP Petfoods from what I have heard.

By that do you mean Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, who took her sight seeing around Melbourne? =P

back OT, lets not get too ahead of ourselves. The riders are inquiring, not signing contracts. If White and co can get their act together (which I am not sure about) then those riders will be riding for Pegasus.

There's more than Chris White starting teams up down under. The more the merrier!!

tip one: have sponsor contractually signed up, before announcing proteam or pro conti ambitions.

If this does go the way of Linda McCarthy, the UCI and Jonathan Vaughters (on behalf of the teams) need to get together to make sure this can be prevented in the future, its difficult but the riders and employees of the team may not be in a VERY difficult position. And Robbie's got a beach house to pay for.

What noteable teams have rosters spots and a bit of money set aside?

There's a fair number of useful riders there. McEwen obviously, Tuft, Traskel and Robbie Hunter as well. Some of their Milram leftovers could be useful too.

Mcewen is past it for like 2 years already to be honest. I don't know what he gets paid, but it's probably not worth it (anymore)

Can it be safe to say that the unnamed riders seeking new teams are the ones that came over from the pro tour ranks?

Karma for signing under the radar Joe Papp client Phil Zajicek? I can't imagine the UCI cares about the situation, but what goes around, comes around.... right?

I would love to see a strong Aussie team, but things have seemed a bit shady from the beginning. It seems that Fly-V was at some point linked to Successful Living, so another twist. You can't build a foundation on lies and high hopes.

Are there any other Aussie programs that could potentially develop into something over the next few years?

And I thought you were older than you are, ACF:D

Le Groupment was THE big new team of 1995. Signed up a heap of big names: Leblanc (the reigning World Champ), Brochard, Pensec, Van Poppel, Millar, Graeme O'Bree, Arnould, Lino etc. Chose the worst jersey design of all time -think vomit after a box of fruit loops. Then went bust after a few months, leaving the riders high and dry. Good times.

Unfortunately, your beloved Pegasus is going to go the same way.
