So a guy can't reply to why a certain team might be excluded from the sport? Are we limited to only discussion about paperwork delays and other administrative issues?

Ok, so here is an argument: Aw shucks, they must not have made the pro conti list because of an honest mistake. Jee wiz.

Is it not possible that issues plaguing our sport are also issues with one of the top upstart teams?

pegasus officials are prompting riders to inquire with other teams. It is not done and dusted yet so lets not get our knickers in a knot even though it is not looking good.

Karma for signing under the radar Joe Papp client Phil Zajicek? I can't imagine the UCI cares about the situation, but what goes around, comes around.... right?

I would love to see a strong Aussie team, but things have seemed a bit shady from the beginning. It seems that Fly-V was at some point linked to Successful Living, so another twist. You can't build a foundation on lies and high hopes.

Are there any other Aussie programs that could potentially develop into something over the next few years?

Karma? A lot of teams have riders who have shaddy pasts and they get sponsors and contracts.

And I thought you were older than you are, ACF:D

Le Groupment was THE big new team of 1995. Signed up a heap of big names: Leblanc (the reigning World Champ), Brochard, Pensec, Van Poppel, Millar, Graeme O'Bree, Arnould, Lino etc. Chose the worst jersey design of all time -think vomit after a box of fruit loops. Then went bust after a few months, leaving the riders high and dry. Good times.

Unfortunately, your beloved Pegasus is going to go the same way.

Sorry! I didn't follow the sport then. Bit hard follow much cycling during the early 90's.

tip one: have sponsor contractually signed up, before announcing proteam or pro conti ambitions.

:p

White has promised everything to these riders without having the $$$$ to back it up. As mentioned previously, he has the gift of the gab. He talks things up. He could have very well screwed over many people here. If that's the case, his future in the sport is on a knife's edge.

Which big australian company would really want to invest in an Australian team who has an interest in expanding there business to europe?

You also have to think that all the top races are in Europe. In australia it is the middle of the night when they are competing. In comparison to other sports there isn't much coverage of cycling in Australia.

^ its not the kind of thing to be discussed in a public forum. sasquatch's claim is certainly not unfounded however.

Here is a chance for Outback Steakhouse to look a little more Australian. The team could be named the Bloomin' Onions.

There is a bright side to this. Phil Zajicek and the team that was willing to sign him has been screwed.

Frankly, if you're limiting yourself to Australian company's you've probably lost before you start. Any Aust team needs to tap international companies looking at Europe the same way Highroad has. HTC are not an American company, but are interested in Europe and then the 'eyeballs per $' argument makes sense to them.

Unfortunately, CW may have ruined it for the next Aussie who goes knocking on an international company's marketing door. At least for the next few years. Didn't spot Robbie at the coffee shop this morning - but it was raining.

What's the issue with Zajicek? The 2004 doping charge? In a sport that regularly forgives EPO use, Cathine seems like a pretty minor offense. Or is there another reason.

That was just one of many. The latest (2010) is that he bought junk from Joe Papp, had it shipped to his girlfriend's place, and his lawyer claimed the stuff was not his. Velonews has been deleting any mention of Zajicek's doping affair from their site; the staff does not want to upset one of their local friends.

This is not the place.

then why bring it up in the first and second place???
if you don't have any evidence for your allegations, they shouldn't even be discussed in a non-public forum...

Sasquatch didn't really instigate it tho, merely explained to acf why some might feel 'karma' is at play.

^ unfortunately, that is the very same media that was being used to promote the team. all media is interested in at the end of the day is a headline.

Yes, and leaping to conlusions and taking one thing and making it into an extreme.

Pegasus have been given until December 15th to get their application in order.

What part of that says that they are not going to get it at all, have sponsors pulling the plug and is falling to bits?

I'm not naive enough to think that this is all fina and dandy, there's certainly a lot of amateurish behaviour going on but until Wednesday roles on, I'm going to wait before criticising or making comment about this. Again, the media spiralling this story certainly doesn't help the team try to keep their riders happy.

All I'm doing is saying why karma may be coming back to bite White on the **** without going into details.

You don't need evidence if you've witnessed it first hand and heard from the people concerned.

For people in the know like me and a few others, who have actually researched and witnessed things, it makes sense. For the people who aren't in the know such as yourself, it doesn't.

All I'm saying is that this is karma. That's it. I'm not going into details. I'm just saying it's karma and I don't need to explain why I think it's karma. Understand?
