one wonders if cyclingnews has a vendetta against pegasus? CN publishes an article claiming the team has collapsed, and velonation has an article with direct quotes from Chris White claiming it has not collapsed at all.
hmmmm
I am no employee of CN, so this comment is firmly with my admin hat off:
If you re-read this thread, people were initially commentating how slow CN was to simply regurgitate the many rumours, and White statements, that were flying round about the things that was apparently "in the bag" or a "realistic prospect".
That seemed to have been a very wise position to take, in retrospect.
Actually, this whole thread is one long lesson in I-will-believe-it-when-I-see-it, or when
both parties confirm the claim made.
I doubt if a company which can expand into the Ozzie market would be well served by a vendetta against a stronger cycling anchors in Australia.
I agree that the title "pulls the plug" is too bold, as the strap line is "White left with few current options to continue". The article appears to mirror all facts on the ground fairly though.
Still, given the last couple of months, claims in press releases by Mr White seem to be on par with those "you have won! " envelopes that fall on my mat from time to time.
I suspect that the reality is that the only reason that it hasn't collapsed yet is because it
technically can still find a sponsor. Like it is technically possible to come back from 4-1 down with 3 minutes football remaining. And yes, that has happened too.
So CN should probably address the title, but I cannot see what in the article is contradicted by the press release. All I see are claims that are confirmed by that press release, and some additional claims that are not addressed by White's press release.
