It is not a problem of Pat. It is a problem of Pegasus. The Commision of Licences are independent. And they have empresarial experience. If they give the OK to Schleck-team is because the Luxembourg project presented a bank guarantee for the total-budget. And if they don't accept the Australian project is because Pegasus doesn't present anything. Colombia es pasion, for example, was forzed to present a BANK GUARANTEE of 2.000.000 Euros. And they present it! When you have the money, you are accepted. When you don't have the money, they refusal you.

Exactly, which is why chris white's "White said the situation faced by Pegasus Sports is not unlike the Luxembourg Pro Cycling Project" is complete ********

Sky have 1 place, though im not sure having done all their team building sessions, camp etc that they would bring someone in last minute. I too would like to see Robbie as a mentor to Eddie Boss

Meh, grooming EBH into a sprinter is just a bad boring choice in my opinion. In that case It would be better to bring in Boonen and groom him into a cobbles winner. Then again I guess that's what Knaven is for.

Robbies not bad on cobbles, i was thinking as much green jersey if thats eddies serious ambition, paris-brussels etc. They got a lot of kids at sky, you can never have too many wise heads.

Thats life im afraid. There are plenty of pros that have had their careers cut short, some long before their own time. FYI - No one deserves anything in life. Nothing. Not a thing. Good or bad. We all need to accept that.

It would be atragedy. he deserves to go out on his own terms like every rider does and not be screwed over by a team stuff up. the guy is a legend of australian cycling.

That's because Oman is a 2.1 race. A nothing race.

The other three races are Pro-Tour races. Big difference.

Pegasus probably have invites to those races contingent on having the requisite licence to enter. They simply cannot enter a race like Amstel Gold with a Continental licence - they can only enter .1 or .2 races, and .HC races in their country of origin (ie Australia).

Look on the bright side - if they get the team together they can enter .NE races, which ProTour and ProConti teams can't, so they can do prestigious races like the Shipwreck Coast Classic, the Tour of the Murray and the Gippsland Tour!

Or another prestigious race, Tour of Portugal, which TGDB (The great David blanco) has won 4 times

They could have entered that at ProConti. However, a ProTour or ProConti team can't enter .NE events.

Without a PT or PC licence, Portugal is probably the hardest race in Europe they can still enter. But with Thomas Rohregger being their best climber, they'll be blown away. Robbie could probably get a sprint victory or two though.

That article quotes Gillett's funding at 4.7 million. On September 23 White said he had a total budget of 14 million. What happened to the rest of it?

I'm also not believing that this all went pear shaped with Gillett in the last week or so, by looking at all the press releases up to September 25 I reckon the date Gillett pulled the rug was September 28 or close to it. So for close to three months now people have been strung along with nothing substantial in the way of backers.

I noticed in some of the material I read that as part of the Pro-Conti application you have to submit 10 executed rider contracts. I wonder if the riders have any legal claim once this all goes t1ts up?

Is that 14 million $ that their budget was supposed to be? Isn't that very very high? My question is where was that money supposed to go? Their rider costs ought to be much much lower than many other teams and still they have more money? I guess CW needs his multi million $ salary.

the original plan was a Protour team, a Conti / NRS Team and a Womens team.

given that a Protour team runs on approx 8-10mil per year, its not unfeasible to suggest the remainder would fund the other two teams.

A lot of what White is saying does not make sense still. He said different things in another interview last night than in that article.

I personally think that it is irresponsible of the rider's agents signing with this team without checking the contracts with the sponsor(s).

tan's article is quite good as it shows how White has changed what he has said over time.

the late withdrawal of its main sponsor - understood to be controversial American sports tycoon George Gillett.

Understood without any quote on confirmation is still a rumour. One started (and misinterpreted) in this thread it seems too.

5 hours to go till deadline. I think there's going to be a lot of tired people away on the Eastern Coast...

So the question is, at 4pm tommorow if they dont get their license which of these riders are going to be offered jobs on other teams.

AVERY Clinton < Team RadioShack (Trainee) - Will be cheap and neo pro. Someone will take a gamble
CANTWELL Jonathan < Fly V Australia - back to fly-v?
CORNU Dominique < Skil - Shimano - has some promise, half decent on the cobbles, half decent time triallist, former track rider.
CRAWFORD David Jai < Fly V Australia - back to fly-v
DAY Ben < Fly V Australia - back to fly-v
DENNIS Rohan < Team Jayco - Skins - back to ausse domestic
EICHLER Markus < Team Milram - luck to find anywhere
HUNTER Robert < Garmin - Transitions - pro conti team may pick him up, not sure about PT
IMPEY Daryl < Team RadioShack - as robbie hunter
KEMPS Aaron < Fly V Australia - back to fly-v?
KLIMOV Serguei < Team Katusha - lucky to find anywhere
KNEES Christian < Team Milram - should find at least a pro-conti ride.
LAPTHORNE Darren < Rapha Condor - Sharp Should have no problem returning to a british team
LILL Darren < Fly V Australia - back to fly-v?
LOWE Trent < Garmin - Transitions - 2 rough seasons, might find a pro conti team.
MCEWEN Robbie < Team Katusha - pro conti team might snap up to get race invites
MORAJKO Jacek < Mroz - Active Jet
ROBERTS Luke < Team Milram - back to domestic team, bit old for pt
ROHREGGER Thomas < Team Milram - another that may be picked up by a pro-conti

I had thought that Thor made a bad move by going to Garmin instead of Fly V but now it's looking like he read the cards right.

I think Sulzberger will get picked up by a Pro Conti and so will Cantwell. I personally think Lowe, Klimov, lapthorne & eichler maybe forced to ride for the continental Fly V Australia team instead now.
