More than half the sprint field does worse crap than Sagam, who I rarely see mixed up in this sort of things, but Greipel still feels the need to say that.

Bang out of order. Sagan might have that attitude we all know about him, but I've never seen him trying to look superior on the road.

Stinks of OIi/Brian Cookson hands all over this DQing of Sagan.

But this is the circus that pro cycling operates under.......rules applied in a way that defies logic.

I keep watching this sport less and less, but when I do, some crap is sure to happen so as to make my disgust even greater.

Think I'm done with pro cycling by the end of the season.

There is no way Sagan elbowed Cavendish, if anything Sagan is lifting his elbow as he feels Cav's brake leaver under his arm.

Demare cuts across at least 4 lanes of riders and yet zero sanction.

ASO wants a French rider to win a jersey?????? Madiot bought green for Demare to keep sponsors??????

Sagan's elbow is already being moved and extended even before the caption "Sagan's Elbow" comes up. Sagan's fault, but his punishment is a bit harsh. Expunge his result for the stage and let him keep going in the TDF.

The relegation penalty seemed plenty harsh, but the reconvening of the jury and disqualification of Sagan are shocking. Someone with influence must have been screaming pretty loud to force a reconvening. Too bad for The Tour and its fans. I hope Peter is at the Vuelta, which is beginning to look more compelling each day, as each day The Tour loses even more appeal, what there was of it.

Michael Rasmussen's opinion pretty credible.

Cavendish is trying to knock Sagan away with his head -and tumble. Way before he sticks out his elbow

Shane Stokes said Cav is not angry at Sagan. That's he because he knows it was not Sagan's fault. If it was Cav would be tearing strips of Sagan!!!!!!

Guys, I created a thread in the Clinic to deal with the political shenanigans. Please feel free to add your commentary there!

As for Sagan, I hope he has learned his lesson and won't be throwing any more elbows in the future.

"Someone with influence". Yeah, because people had a vested interest in kicking the most marketable guy out of the race. Yeah right.

According to Dimesnion Data that would be Cav right and his team just nullified a competitor for sprint finishes

Jeez UCI/ASO thought it was ok for the same guy to win it 5 years in a row and make it a borefest, then they got another guy to win it 7 times in a row!!!!

I dont see an elbow thrown. I see an elbow lifted.

This, in that position you don't lift your elbow when you intentionally try to hit somebody with it. Sagan lifted his elbow because he was out of balance after Cav pushed him with his head.

There are basically four options at play:
1) No penalty
2) Irregular Sprint -> 1st offence: relegation to the last place in his group + 200
3) Deviating from selected lane, endangering other riders -> 1st offence: relegation to the last place in his group, point classification penalty equal to the points awarded to the first place of the stage, 200 + 30’’ in general class.
4) Moreover, the Commissaires Panel may, in particularly serious cases, eliminate and fine a rider with 200 on the first offence

While I disagree with it, I can see the argument for 3, but for incidents that are in the third category, how was this one particular serious?

The rule:
Riders shall be strictly forbidden to deviate from the lane they selected when launching into the sprint and, in so doing, endangering others.

Sagan also caused the first crash by racing recklessly.
What first crash?

First crash: https://u.nya.is/jdkpym.mp4

Say what you want about the 2nd crash but the first isn't Sagan's fault at all imo. That's people stretching too far.

Then who is at fault?
Sagan touches two riders and both goes down and causes the crash. He went for a too small gap and took down two riders.
Well the later Cav went for small gap. Then who is at falt?

Yes. Just like they kept Eddy Merckx away in 1973. ASO is disgusting.
