Just looks like overreaching when the base wasn't there. Today the collapse.

Rest up. Probably win a stage in Cali again. Green jersey. Then build towards Worlds. Probably win when everyone is looking at VdP

Yes, definitely stay out of Liège. But I guess there is no chance of him going now.

Heroic ride at Roubaix all things considered.

He should rest now. His peak was Roubaix it seems and it was way bellow his usual peak. They should do something with him becuase this seems more than fkd up prep. Almost seems like the end of an era. Hope he will bounce back.

I just noticed that Sagan is on the startlist of Flèche Wallonne. Is he seriously riding it?
99% he isnt and I would be highly surprised if he dragged the corpse of his former self to Liege.

He Tour has a lot of stages that should suit a Sagan in top shape, the hilly stage at first and then some medium mountains in the Vosges and Massif Central. He should seriously just focus on the Tour now and getting back to his former self.

I hope he's there to carry bottles for his teammates and so sponsors will be happy to see Sagan on TV more before he gets dropped with 30km to go.

Hope he just doesn't push himself

That or I guess I'm hoping it was just a random off day?

What would his goal be racing Fléche? The only way I could see it made sense would be if he had a total offday like Valverde and still believe in himself for Liege, but would like to get a little more racing done prior on some harder climbs.

I still hope that FW is hoax. That race does not suit him at all. Huy was steep for him even in his best days. This season is weakest in hills in his whole career. He should skip LBL with this form but it makes sense to at least recon the route but Fleche is useless race for him.

I agree with riding the LBL as reckon and not digging deep, but actually if he's written the spring on sunday off and started preparation for the next period already, the FW in training/helping mode makes sense too. He needs to get those muscles he lost during the preparation(intentionally)/ilness(unintentionally) back, and he won't grow them by sitting on couch.

Totally useless to select him and quite frankly, very poor judgement by himself. The Bora captains could have more qualified help from others. A bit bad mannered - let other ride if youre just gonna drop out like that and be close to useless to your team.

He really needs some rest.
He should take it easy in California and only contest the stages for the pure sprinters.
He started the season early and had a.long classics season, even he needs some time to recover and built some form for the Tour.

From Peter's facebook page:
"A hard Flèche Wallonne is over. I was here to work for the squad and contribute to the effort to achieve the best result possible. Together with the team, we decided that the best for me would now be to take a few days off in order to better prepare myself for the next races, starting with the Amgen Tour of California on May 12."

This decision should have been made after Amstel. I hope that Bora learnt a lesson from this spring and won't try to repeat it again. I don't believe his bad condition was caused only by a stomach virus. I think they messed up something in his training campaign. One just can't focus on both cobbles and Ardennes in a single season, you have to choose just one option. However I do believe he will bounce back and show his strenght in July and in Yorkshire.

Sagan should've done this after Roubaix. He was never going to do anything at Liège trying to ride into form during the week before.

When he was ill in March he lost 4kg. If that's true, it's easy to think that can disrupt the entire spring campaign.

If he keeps going on the way he has planned I doubt that he is gonna get any more than a couple of victories in this season at most. Nothing will change unless he totally ditches the race calendar now and rest. His rivals will destroy him in TDF at this rate. I dont understand why he does not see this now personally? Or he does but the rider in him does not want to quit.

Maybe slimming down intentionally was one of the main problems, he did that when he rode at Cannondale and even durning the next year at Tinkoff his endurance seemed to suffer, at a certain point it was usually lights out for him after a hard race.
Maybe the illness messed up his preparation (he probably just lost water weight because of dehydration, but it can kill your form). Starting your season so early is probably not the best thing to do, but Specialized is probably pushing him to ride in Australia and if they are paying a decent amount of his salary they have some influence, so just skip San Juan.
Despite his (sometimes well crafted) Image he always seemed to be a hard worker, he never was like Pippo, who was always more style than substance and cruised on his talent and his class.
Taking a break right now is the smart thing to do.
