and I thought no one could ever top Frankie's debut fail to broadcasting but then along came Christain.. Wow talk about a mouth full of marbles.

He had to read for this job in the interview right? Can someone please tell me what it is he brought of value to this coverage at all? A noun maybe A verb?

I used to like Phil's commentary but this week I realized that he, like me, has poor short term memory - everyone gets it as they age. So Phil I suggest it is time to retire.

Surely that 'poor short term memory' can be overlooked because of his age?

I have to agree with you. CVV has been brutal. I would be curious to know how he prepared. I would assume (incorrectly perhaps) that he could be fairly decent but he's totally out of his element.

I blame the producers. They threw him in the deep end. He adds little to the broadcast. They need to have him inject stories that are relatable.

Hey NBC....

We can not stomach Paul Sherwin any more. If he is commentating the TDF this year, it will be ruined, we will have to mute the shows. He is so in love with himself, even comparing himself to Sagan a while back. Please NBC, don't subject us to him anymore.

Best two guys in cycling commentary period.

JK, of course. I don't really what the issue is with them though, even in cycling commentary is not important if you pay attention to the race. Phil/Paul are comedic relief via their randomness and can always be muted if they get annoying.

I feel your pain...Sherwan says the same things over and over again during the race in a manner of a school marm talking to imbecile children
Up to last year he told the same story about Stu O Grady over and over , about him leaving his friends at Trek to set up OGE and how he didn't want to go , but it was the first Australian pro tour team and he couldn't miss out etc....grrr Thought I'd go insane if I heard another word about Stu O Grady...There were like 150 guys in the peloton who never got mentioned but we had the daily Stuey story

I got Eurosport with Carlton Kirby ( I miraculously know what every rider is thinking and all their motivations ...even when I don't ) & Sean Kelly (em..... well yes) so I am better off

Not looking forward to having the Aus broadcast go from the very good Dave McKenzie and Matt Keenan to Phil and Paul

It's like someone stealing your half finished Filet Mignon and replacing it with dog food...

Matt Keenan is shocking - he was single handled lay responsible for itv4 shelving live coverage of the vuelta due to numerous complaints

Personally I think that Matt Keenan was pretty good when he did the Vuelta. Unfortunately most of the complaints were more related to the fact that he has , to us Brits at least, a really strong Aussie accent. He certainly seemed to be able to identify the riders better than anyone else and not just the well known guys.
ITV4's coverage of the Vuelta that year was a bit of a muddle all round as they had Matt Rendle doing some bits as well before Keenen came on air and as much as I like him doing interviews , studio add ons etc etc Matt is no commentator.

I can't wait. Bring it on and bring on the whingeing around here :D

Achtung Phil and Paul haters.

Take joy in NBC Sports coverage of Le Tour. Yes, phil and paul are covering the race for them....but there is no actual race coverage on NBC sports: it is all adverts and dreadful "human interest" pieces....and that's just about it. There just a few seconds of live riders.

Haven't heard Liggett and Sherwen for ages .You would think by now that Liggett would know that Cavendish is not English and Astana are not Russian.
