Phil and Paul

was funny when Porte clearly started the TT like a sunday beer ride and phil and paul are like 'here's ritchie porte looking to do a great time in this TT, he's really pushing it' etc etc. Then when he comes up to the line minutes off the pace Phil says 'oh yes as we knew, he's taking it easy to be ready for the alps stages to come' LOL

They are trolling the forum!!! :p

I hope so. Question to Paul: you haven't said the name Juan Antonio Flecha with the flair and panache of years past. Broken heart?

I would usually let the commentator off the hook if their mistakes were occasional with regards to riders names, but this seems to be happening all the time!

The fish rots from the head first while the cat is among the pigeons after you let it out of the bag

My favourite moment yesterday was when Valverde went nearly a minute clear in the first checkpoint, P+P decided to waffle on saying he has gone a few tenths up before stopping and realising their mistake. I'm sure one of them blamed their monitor.

Watching on the I pad live it seems they aren't even in the same monitor we are.

And the nbcsn app feed doesn't have motorbike dude thankfully

They are sickeningly Anglocentric and quite often inaccurate with facts and wrong with their interpretation of events in a race. Sherwin comes up with an opinion and proceeds to beat it to death with a large stick for the next cuople oh hours. He doesn't hide his contempt for the French either. :D

Phil's attempt to pronounce Arnold Jeannesson's surname yesterday was basically just to say Johnson in a bad French accent.

Got to say it has been an interesting and mostly good selection of music that SBS has used after its ad breaks and before it goes back to P & P.

SBS' editorial work has really picked up this year IMO.

I may be nitpicking here but Paul just had a doozy. I know it is really only a word or two but it changes the context of the sentence completely (and funnily this the time i might add)

Paul Sherwen:.......and he's a teammate of Jean Christophe Peraud, who unfortunately had to crash out the other day.

;)

Plenty of airtime for Roche today, I bet Phil and Paul have mentioned that he is the son of 1987 Tour winner Stephen Roche a few times today.

Yup, ticked that one off. For anyone else playing Phil and Paul bingo, hopefully another telling of Paul's epic Nairo biography coming up.

Yes he is very knowledgeable about the places in the TDF and also a lot about history. He shoulders most of the commentary in that pair. The problem actually is Phil.

True, Paul is way more knowledgeable than many i'd say as he raced too.
Phil this year has started mistaking the riders a lot,,

According to Paul today there was "Damp Wetness" on the road

Phil suggested to us all that when applying the brakes in the rain on carbon wheels one actually feels like they are accelerating.

And maybe it was my cynical ear but I could have sworn he said the name Jan Baconsoleil of Team Radio shack.....(can not confirm)

the hits just keep on coming

Not so sure about that French part. He did say earlier in this race that "A Frenchman will win the tour in the next 10 years". let's hold him to that.

I've been watching on the iPad traveling so replay is not possible to confirm exact quotes. But did anyone catch Paul's rant on Sky suspicions on the internet? He said that Froome gave all his "information"
(and that is all he said was information, just one simple word to describe whatever was given to media) to French media and they determined "his performances are the same as the last 2 years" therefore all suspicions are not valid.

a bold statement with vague wording. Information says its the same? thank you for that.... Information says its the same.... Okeydokee artichokee

Just say nothing on the subject then idiot

I enjoyed Paul's well-researched description of Paris during the final stage this year, pointing our the landmarks and telling us how the riders would pass the Musée d'Orsay on their way onto the Champs-Élysées.
Finally the big moment arrived: "And there IS the Musée d'Orsay" enthuses Paul as we see a glass pyramid and the caption says "Louvre".

We have no choice down here - Phil & Paul take over from Matt Keenan after a few minutes & are on air for the next ~ two hours.

Do they not realize that they are constantly repeating themselves..?

I think Keenan would be an excellent journalist or a pundit/analyst, he knows his stuff. But he isn't a very good commentator because his voice is monotonous (though that could easily be solved by pairing him with somebody who sounds good).
