I'm extremely glad I normally don't have to listen to them.

I also find it disturbing that the regular cycling watcher in the US or Australia has to listen to these guys. These people get an wrong image of cycling.

Its not that bad. P and P don't do all races.

These americans covering the GIro are pretty good imo

Give Matty Keenan and wingman and retire these clowns.

Keenan is good. His accent would go over well in the U.S. And he sounds like he actually knows what he is talking about.

There is nothing more cringeworthy than listening to Phil and Paul try to explain new bike tech. It's like listening to cavemen talk about nuclear physics. I seriously wonder if neither have ridden a bike made past 1985. I am pretty sure that yesterday I heard Paul say that Di2 can go 2000 hours between charges. I guess that figure is inline with the descent speeds that Paul typically uses.

i also don't like at all savoldelli,i don't know why he was selected, yes he's brilliant on the technical side but that's it,he has no vocabulary at all.a commentator should also have knowledge about everything around.a little bit from everything.
.

I thought you didn't speak Italian.

I think it is a case of the more you know about cycling, the lamer Phil and Paul seem. After a few years of following the sport, you remember their old commentary seemed much better to you even though it was just as lame back then.

1 of the things that had me hooked about cycling in the beginning is the awesome voice that Phil Liggett has. and before i had any idea about the sport i thought the things he said were pretty amazing and fascinating.

i'll have to admit...

i don't speak it just the basic but i understand 90% of it.same with spanish.

if a romanian person lived in italy for 2 weeks they'd speak fluent italian.
if a romanian peron lived in spain for 4 weeks they'd speak fluent spanish.
if a romanian person lived in france for 6 weeks they'd speak fluent french.
if a romanian person lived in portugal for 8 weeks they'd speak fluent portuguese.
if a romanian person lived in poland for 99999999999999 weeks they'd speak fluent romanian.

They are still easily the best on British tv. Harmon is biased towards cadel Evans as much as p&p are to lance. Kelly although offering good incite has a boring voice while don't get me started on matt Keenan who ruined the itv4 vuelta coverage

Harmon knows who the riders are. he can guess just by lookong at their faces or styles. he knows their best results from their palmares and im not just talking about nibali or sanchez but also verdugo or grabowsky or leezer. ligget obviously doesnt know any of them not even sanchez but do you think there are more than 7 teams around from whom he can name a rider? Can he name an agr rider besides roche or a fdj rider or a rabo or vacan orkatusha one? and thsts just wt.
I bet my house he hasnt ever heard of androni. harmon meanwhile can probably name their first team

From the highlights of the first three stages, and watching the end of the Willunga stage, it does seem that they are getting worse, especially Phil.

sean kelly is one of the biggest stars this sport ever delivered.he's a saint of this sport.
but there is no way in hell sean kelly could be a commentator, even a stone has more soul and the mumbling doesn't help either.it's terrible.

Sean is more of an analyst type. Harmon tells us what's going on, and Kelly chips in with how he sees the race developing/tactics talk. It can get annoying when he keeps talking while something important happens though.

I rewatched Ronde 2007 the other day, and during some of it Harmon was obviously away on toilet breaks and Sean was left on his own to do all the commentating. Was so weird hearing him say how many km are left and who's in the break.

the best combination i've ever heard and i think it was the perfect one:
n86371160482_4435935_7259.jpg

adriano de zan,a poet of cycling, defintely the voice of it and cassani.
on rai now is like there are two cassani's i don't like it.pancani has no flavour like de zan or bulbarelli.

Paolo insights are always great. his role doesnt need to have much vocabs. and come on he is the one and only Il falco :D..

Awful. I'd rather listen to a language I don't understand than the Universal Sports guys. Gogulski's voice just isn't fit for broadcasting.

I can listen to Gogo but I can't watch him. It's painful.

I noticed Savoldelli always ends his sentences with the same word when on his motorbike. But can't understand it, he speaks a bit too fast for my liking. Something like "ahoy", he has a funny voice though.

Phil and Paul are commentators for people who know nothing about cycling, I don't know how many times I've heard them explain a pace line. I think it's time for NBC sports to hire a new commentator like Merckx or Indurain maybe.
