For me, I like to see the actual photo at hand and see how good the person's skill is, not a prgram to make themselves look good. But in saying that though, some of the post-processing of photos on here have been very good and make the photos have a different perspective. If I were to do it, it would only be very subtle and make any changes look minor. Like the photos I posted, the outside ofthe windows were dirty, so I would look to remove it or any sun reflection that was on the windows. That would be about it.
BTW, hektoren are you a pro photographer, or somebody who has been doing it for a while?
I've been a keen amateur photographer since 1966. For the last ten years I've been paid for most of my photography, but I'm not even close to break even if you look at my expenditure for expensive and esoteric glassware. (We're talking six figures here, even in Euro)
As a photographer you'll only be judged by your end product, whether it's on paper or screen. How you got there is of no interest for a prospective customer, a gallery or whatnot. No link in the chain, from visualized idea to the finished product, is more important than the others. Some times a truly spectacular photo needs very little post-processing. Some times a truly spectatular photo needs a lot of post-processing. Knowing what to do and when to do it, will be second-nature, once you've got the experience.
Some of my photo-friends (some of them pro "togs", two of them quite famous) have "the eye", a visual instinct. They know immediately when a "Kodak-moment" is about to happen, and they leave with the best shot possible, every time. Every detail is just right. Composition, aperture, shutter...technically it's as good as it gets. Visually appealing and immensely "commercial"; their photos sell like hotcakes. All of them, however, regard post-processing as an integral part of photography. A tool in their toolchest, no more, no less. A tool that can enhance but also destroy. Just as no expensive chisel and fantastic slab of marble will turn you into a new Michelangelo, no computer program will ever make mediocre photos look good. What matters is your creative input.

I stand corrected! I really didn't know that. Is it a Firenze/Florence-thing? The english version of a german name? I don't know. I'm not German myself, and know next to nothing about native American names. You can have all the slack you want!
