I like him even more for that.

The thing is, he is a tall, young superstar athlete, successful and does a lot of money. I would hate him for what he did if he was an ugly 150kg monster.

The woman on the podium will not have had anything against being touched by Sagan, and she could pretty well imagine sleeping with him, I´m sure.

Moreau and Hincapie married podium girls, maybe this has been the start of a Sagan lovestory today. :)
The amount of jock-sniffers on this board is astounding

Sure, it was inappropriate, but not a real big deal. I don't see it as as big a deal as people are making it out to be. Sagan's young, and having fun and goofing around is part of his personality.

First of all, this whole thing is extremely blown out of proportion and the hypocrisy in some is astonishing. Some people just found a nice scapegoat in Sagan, instead of focusing on the real problems in cycling or society in general it is much easier to point fingers at a 23yo kid and a harmless joke he did and pretend that it is the only thing that is wrong regarding gender issues. I'm sure that most of the people crucifying Sagan for this have never really given a single thought about the sexism of the actual existence of podium girls and some of them will later spend some quality time in their PC's porn folder. Apparently it is completely fine if women get paid to look pretty and kiss random men but what Sagan did was a disgusting act of objectifying women and the root of all gender inequality problems in cycling. Seriously?

I find it unbelievable how some people throw around words like "sexual assault" to describe a playful joke of a young kid that the podium girl seemed to find funny too. And if it's true what someone said, that Sagan and the girl already knew each other as they were flirting after his Gent victory, it is even more understandable. Most importantly, none of the people condemning Sagan took the time to wonder how the girl herself felt about it. Again, nothing indicated that she wasn't comfortable with it and she didn't complain afterwards either. And truth be told, if I was a girl, I could imagine worse things than getting my *** pinched by a young, handsome, rich, superstar athlete. Oh the horror!

Moreover, all the critics seem to know everything about Sagan's character and what a misogynist he is from seeing one (maybe slightly inappropriate) joke and a t-shirt he wore in his private time with friends. I'm sure that Sagan's mother and his older sister that raised him would have something to say about that.

Seriously people, if you're worried about gender inequality, you are barking at the wrong tree. Give that guy a break. He is a young kid full of testosterone having the time of his life. It was not the first nor the last nice *** to get grabbed. Big deal.

Most importantly, you are degrading Cancellara's amazing victory too. In the last 20 pages of the race thread, you could find maybe 1-2 posts regarding Fabian. Actually, Sagan probably gave him more props than all the posters combined:

"I'm very happy for the second place. Fabian rode really well and today I was just not good enough for him. He attacked on the last climb, I tried to hold on to him but he was faster. Today the best rider won."

I chose option 4 because screw all the Holy Willies.

I went with option 2.
Without being there and knowing the characters it is impossible to say more. It is possible that they were joking around beforehand and the young lady in question was ok with it. It is also possible that he's a total jackass. More than a few people who enjoyed his riding style and enthusiastic celebrations will have a second thought about him now.
If that were my son I'd be completely embarrassed.
If that were my daughter I'd be incensed.

I only watch porn for the men in fairness.

Unless you know the person quite well, you shouldn't go around touching peoples bottoms, especially with everyone and their camera looking at you.

Silly Sagan, kid is getting a bit arrogant.

Kinda depressing that anyone showing signs of having a personality nowadays is castigated, mainly in the name of hyping up a 'news story'/'controversy'. Celebrate victory in a silly fashion? Disrespecting the opposition. Playfully pinch a podium girl's ****? Disrespecting the female gender. Its a wonder anyone does anything...

Shocked so many people here on board dislike what Sagan did. As I said, till now, I thought us Germans were the only ones being such puritans...:confused:

It almost forces me to create a new poll:

What did Sagan say to the lady while touching her a**?
- Let´s meet this evening, I can do it to you while doing a wheelie at 40 kph!
- I´d prefer to ride your wheels even over riding my Cannondale!
- I won´t ride Roubaix just to not harm my erection power, just for you!

My reasons were removed elsewhere by someone who only reads half of what is written

* The podium girl was/had to be in cahoots on the matter, that's why she kissed Fabian at the same time for an extended length of time and then just smiled. Wow I guess she smiles when offended

* Fabian can counter Sagan's sexism by complaining that the podium girl kissed him for way too long and in front of his wife! Home wrecker! That @#$#%*@*!@!!!

So if people can call out Sagan for being sexist because he pinched her bum then Fabian can call the podium girl as being a home wrecking skank for kissing him beyond the normal podium girl kissing time and doing it in front of Fabian's wife. That should also have the feminist up in arms at the outrage of the lengthy kiss and under the circumstances.

It was a silly thing to do, but please, spare me of the faux outrage and I say move on to those who are making a big deal out of it.

Misogynistic?!
On contrary.
He just can't hide his desire.

LOL, I was kidding.

If you want to read hysteria on this issue, please read the twitter feed of Jane Aubrey. A typical, hysterical feminist reaction. I could just imagine the uproar if this happened in Australia with all the Women's Lib groups going absolutely bananas.

Fair enough, sometimes it is hard to pick up on a forum with a poster one does not know well.
Yes, it is.
And the beauty is in the fact that every opinion can be taken equally serious or ironic.
That's how everything's relative.

Have the Podium girl already made any statement on the incident in question? Perhaps She & Sagan can handle it in private, with lawyers if the situation calls for- or perhaps they're talking about it in bed, drinking a fine bottle of Champagne while laughing at all the ridiculous posts made on CN forums:D

knowing nothing more than what i see in the picture, sagan's behavior appears unacceptable. i wonder what the podium girl, cannondale, and sagan have to say about this.

he is a great racer, but he won't have his choice of sponsors and team if he continues to behave like a piece of ****

Sagan already apologized on his twitter.

As for sponsors... I'm not sure about it. Sagan got his *** handed to him by Fabian today yet he still took all the spotlight. And not only negatively, his FB page for example grew by roughly 2000 likes after this stunt. Overall, people are seeing him and sponsors like that. A couple of mad feminists won't hurt Cannondale. And let's face it: even though they won't admit it and act like white knights instead, 90% of men laughed about it and thought "attaboy!"
