How do you know Sagan was 23 year old wearing that T-shirt? Ok. It makes probably no difference whether 18 or 23. I am just asking. :)

Well, I made the assumption that the t-shirt picture was recent. To me more exusable if he is 17 or 18; prior to making a cycling star of himself. Peter Sagan is not new to podiums. He is a jokester okay lol, but if that was him grabbing me, I don't care who he is, his hand would have been removed. It is not complimentary or cool to be touched like that in public - sure if your humor is that of beavis and butthead, it's hysterical to many a junior high school sense of humor.

I just hope you do not jump to any conclusion from this. The cycling forum is “game” full of nationalism, haters and lovers. I am sure if Sir Wiggins would have done it, the posts and locations had been just oposite :D "lovely British humor".

If Sir Bradley Wiggins did it? Ha! shocking and scandalous. not at all charming; crass and inappropriate from him! :)

The sexism is alive, as well as hypocrisy. No wonder that terabytes of porn is daily downloaded in Vatican. ;)

hello bissib. Yes, I do. I think it was a stupid choice, the t-shirt, for someone of his rank, influence, and stature at age 23 (a man; not a kid). His English is good enough to know those words for anatomy and I hope he realizes it was a poor choice of a shirt and particularly does not continue grabbing podium girls asses. I doubt he will after all the fuss. We'll see. It disappointed me to see him act like that but. I really don't think men, however popular, rich, charming they are, should assume they are making a compliment to a woman by *** grabbing. It is simply not the case! No thanks!

That said, I hope to see him on the podium many times!
That photo popped up here about 2 or 3 years ago, so he would have been about 20. Not that it makes much difference.

On the thread: I think the girl pinching the podium dude's **** the other day was the appropriate response by womanhood. Too much is made out of this. Yes, Sagan appears to have a bit of a Neanderthal approach to sexuality. He could try to be a bit more civilized. He ain't the Antichrist though.

No, No, Sagan should not be crucified over this. He seemed sincerely apologetic; not sure the flowers were necessary but hey, I am sure he'll improve as a professional off the bike as well as on. He seems sincerely to love riding his bike and there is joy in his performances. I like his celebrations when he crosses lines. He strikes me as the youngest in a big family - maybe a little spoiled? loves to be the jokester; keep things lively.

No it didn't.

It also didn't say that pinching was a compliment. It said that in some cultures it can bee seen as a harmless thing/compliment.

Some cultures =/= All cultures.

I do not think it can be seen as a harmless thing/compliment in any culture, not even those "barbarian eastern Earopean " ones :).

I´ve never "pinched a stranger bum" in my whole life not even in the club. I always thought the girls just could not like it. But true is those who kept on daring and trying always left the club with some company, not like me. :D. How is this possible? I have to ask some feminists.

What I was trying to say is that it is ridiculous trying to portray Sagan as some sexist monster who likes "treading on rights of women" when he probably had no idea that what he did could be considered such a big deal in some countries.

But thanks Hitch for giving us an example of how blown out of proportion this whole thing is with your comparison of pinching butts to mass murders.

Totally agree with what you said

I like watching races with Sagan in them but his T-shirt choice is very stupid for a 23 year old, really, as is what he did on the podium. I voted for the second option but really think the whole "podium girl" thing is sexist and outdated. Thankfully, there are no podium girls or boys in tennis. Cycling is the only sport I watch that still has podium girls. I know it's something still done in Nascar and other motorsports too; most of the time I don't think about it, really. But, interesting to read the various posters perspectives on this thread and observe where they come from. Sexism is alive and well where I am from and I see pretty much universally people do not get it, as well. no surprise.

Actually I could imagine some pro tennis players that would do what Sagan did on impulse too but wow - the pro would be crucified in the media.

Explain how it's sexist and like you said most motor sports have podium girls. Sagan has been crucified in the media and what t-shirt are you on about

I know it's a fairly long thread but people have given opinions about whether podium girls should be a thing in here and the T-Shirt has been posted multiple times, so worth giving it a read maybe!

Read the thread and you'll find out.

You do know when writing you could of just said what the t-shirt and saved both our times. I'm hungover, can't see where someone says what the t-shirt had written in the last few pages, so can't be arsed to go through 48 pages

#2 - Stupid and sexist. But he is young and and will hopefully learn more appropriate behavior.
I hate the word "sexist" almost as much as I hate the word "racist". They are both overused, mindless blurbs used by boring people with no sense of humor, trying to sound politically correct.
