Gerrans is not a sprinter though and Liege Bastogne Liege nor even Milan San Remo are sprinting events. When it is man on man or when there are a few small groups racing for the win, I find it extremely annoying that he sits on the wheel and simply takes advantage of other riders who actually deserve to win.

Not sure if anyone deserves to win. Often the strongest rider does not win. Gerrans is a good tactician and to me he is a sprinter. Not a bunch sprinter but a climber who can sprint or vice versa and in hard races when the pure sprinters can lose their edge, Gerrans is always dangerous. I really don't think he is any worse than many others as far as following wheels goes but if they can't drop him at the Worlds he will be very hard to hold out and Australia looks like it has a good team to support him. He has to be in the top 3 riders to win the race.

Maybe this has been covered, but I cant seem to find it. For the life of me I don't understand the selection process for the WCRR. How is it that teams like Poland have 8-9 riders while Lux has 1 and the Swiss have 3.

I know there are more than 3 Swiss and 1 Lux rider out there. Can anyone clear this up?

Lux was supposed to have 3, but Schleck withdrew and Jungels is still plagued by his saddle sore I would guess

I think it comes down to points earned by said nation over the uci racing calendar to how many riders get sanctioned to ride as a team for their country up to a maximum of 9

Definitely. Mirador looked like a selective climb if the pace or attack is hard enough
