Better that Sunweb chooses riders who can get through three weeks - There are enough opportunities for TD to make time in key stages like the TTT/ITT and Cobbles - He doesn't need more mountain domestics.

More? He doesn't even really have one.

Low chances of Kelderman getting through the first 9 days anyways. And with Matthews and Dumo, it might actually be better to ride Poland and La Vuelta and try to podium there.

Sucks about Froomey, I guess it will be harder for ASO to not let him allow to ride?

Ciro Snognamiglio reporting that Team Sky's team is:
Froome, G, Poels, Bernal, Kwiat, Castroviejo, Moscon & Rowe.

Looks pretty formidable especially with a boosted Froome by today's UCI announcement!

so basically the team that destroyed the dauphine, + Froome, Poels and Bernal...

f**k...

Fortuneo-Samsic

Warren Barguil
Maxime Bouet
Elie Gesbert
Romain Hardy
Kevin Ledanois
Amael Moinard
Laurent Pichon
Florian Vachon

No place for Tour regular Brice Feillu or Perichon who rode strongly last year but is struggling a bit this season

Sunweb

Søren Kragh Andersen (DEN)
Nikias Arndt (GER)
Tom Dumoulin (NED)
Laurens ten Dam (NED)
Simon Geschke (GER)
Chad Haga (USA)
Michael Matthews (AUS)
Edward Theuns (BEL)

Strong for the flat and TTT, but not good enough for the mountains.

So fortunately no Oomen, but also no Storer or Hindley. Frustrating for Dumoulin I guess but he used to the not much help in the mountains in the last few years for sure. Anyway it's not ideal.

Interestingly no Teunissen. I guess the team didn't like that he and Bauhaus signed for another team for next year and left them home.

On another topic: how do people rate Uran's chances? He was 54 seconds off winning a tdf last year. Definitely flown under the radar this year - people talk more about Bernal......

Unlikely due to Slipstream almost folding last year and loosing most of their riders then scrambling to field a full team for this year. He won't exactly have any support in the mountains and not sure he'll have a very good TTT either.
