As far as the TDS, which is starting in 3 days. I'll be taking that off the schedule, and replacing it with something later on in the season.

Good luck to all tomorrow!

Here is the post jaylew :)

Hey all! Just got in, updates will be made tonight, I've got everything tabulated - just have to enter it now. Glancing at the list, it looks like 180mmcrank is still in the lead (by a fair amount) yet there was some shuffling in the standings.

Thanks for your patience (as usual :p). Also, as I had mentioned previously I will be in france during the tour so I will probably not be able to run the pool. Would anyone be interested in running the show during that time?

For people who like the prediction games, HERE is one (in dutch) for the TdF.

As a true manager you have to pay attention to the composition of your team (9 riders) day by day.

Obviously, you need to adjust it according to the demands of the stage and the general race situation, but you are somehow limited in which riders you can pick. All riders cost money, and have a value that changes (up/down) based on the success they have had so far... Since all riders also collect a sign-on fee, you can only make money (gain points), by having them finish high enough so that they win premiums, which can potentially off set the sign on fees...

Ie, Suppose it's a flat stage and you, amongst others, buy Cavendish who costs 6.000.000 + a sign on fee of 10%, = 6.600.000. The premium for the winner is 1.000.000, number two 750.000, three 500.000 and cascades down further. Cavendish thus better make sure he wins or comes in second otherwise he actually COSTS you money!

I found this myself yesterday and I am thinking about participating. Thanks for explaining some of it. I remember cyclingnews had one that you had to pay for like this but I just checked my bookmark and the site is gone.

I am also competing in the the VDS game at Podium Cafe, but the you had to join by sometime back in Feb.

Hey guys,

Things have been way too chaotic lately (with work and cycling outside consuming almost all of my time). I think I'll be putting the prediction pool on hold for a while. I know it sucks, especially with the TDF coming up, but this thing has been a lot more time consuming than I thought it was going to be when I first started it.. :p

Just want to apologize to everyone for this sudden stoppage, but I also want to thank you guys for participating in the event. If anyone feels like taking over the pool, just let me know!

If not, then I will probably try to restart something next season (when the motivation is back :p)

*To the mods* if no one feels like continuing the pool, feel free to "un-sticky" this thread.

Thanks,

Merckx

or try
http://tour.cyclingfever.com/index.html
in english
where you are not limited in which riders you can pick (12 riders) day by day

Tony Martin crashes, with 35kms to go, on damp roads. Cavendish and one other tow him back to the peloton, where he promptly cashes for a second time, bringing down a Caisse rider, who gets off worse.
Twice in 3kms!
Cav again doing domestique duties bringing back the battered German.

The Jurapark finish is so easy a climb. Last time it was used, Robbie Hunter riding for Rabo, won.

Ok guys it's time to choose some stages for the TdF. Merckx will be away and i am happy to calculate scores although i am in Australia so stages usually run from about 10pm to about 2am and i also have to work, so i cant promise a quick calculation (possibly a day late (give or take a few hours) or so). Unless someone is in a closer time zone or time on their hands i will do it.

As for stages these are my thoughts:

A Flat stage. Stage 2, 3 or 5 Get the flat one out of the way early and to give whoever is calculating scores a not so packed third week.

Stage 7:. We have to do this one. Awesome mountain top finish. Is sure to be one of the first major sort outs.

Stage 9 or 10:: Stage 9 has a few climbs but quite a way from the end and stage 10 is bastille day. Both in my opinion will probably be a sprint or breakawy. But the major thing to remember is both these days have race radios banned (i believe, pls correct if im wrong)

Stage 17:Massive undulating day. Four cat 1's and a cat 2. Up and down is the order of the day. With a crucial 14km decent to finish the stage.

Stage 18:Im happy to do this TT if im calculating but if someone else is it might be easier on them if we do the prologue/stage 1 TT instead.

Stage 20: Ventoux. For obvious reasons. Could make or break the tour.

Don't think we should do the Team TT as i dont know how we would calculate it.

Pls voice your opinions so we get to pick on stages and not just overalls.

I'd say do stage 18 TT and stage 20 Ventoux but skip stage 17. It's to much in too few days there...

Before we think about canning this completely, I will conduct the tallying of the scores for the Tdf. The game will still be exactly the same just please send your tips to me. All overall picks must be in prior to the start of the TdF and all stage picks in 24hours before that stage starts, even if the previous stage is not complete, so please make sure they are in on time.

Please bear with me as i have never done this before, and it may be a bit of time before each stage is updated. It also doesnt help that im in Australia so the time zone sucks for major european races.

The stages for the TdF will be:

Stage 3
Stage 7
Stage 15
Stage 18 (ITT)
Stage 20

As i can not update the original post, only merckx can i will post updated scores in this thread so you guys will just have to find them each time. Also as the scores from the Dauphine have not been updated, i will see if i can find them in this thread and will update later.

If anyone else has time on their hands or wants to help, i will welcome you with open arms. So we'll see how this goes.

Cheers

Let me know if you need any help calculating scores - I seem to remember you had a tool to generate totals?

I wouldn't have a problem if others wanted to join the game?

What do people think? Who is intereseted?

It might be a nice distraction from 'I hate the new web site...'

And again I am not the most savvy IT guy but happy to help with a bit of collation and admin if that would be useful.

I have to delare it's been fun to play the game and it would be nice to continue - and yes I enjoyed it even when i wasn't in Yellow ;) - and in the words of many a yellow jersey wearer " I don't expect to be wearing it all the way to Paris " :)

Cheers

I think that if anyone new wants to play they can. Say give them 50 or 75 points? Your thoughts

Remember to send in TdF overalls before it starts!!!!!!!!

I think that this is a good idea, I say 75 points. And, thanks for taking over for the TdF.

I think the argument against letting anyone else in was about there being to many players to handle so I think it's up to you if you can handle it. We've had a couple of dropouts along the way too haven't we?

I think 75 is fine as a start.
