Now I'm pretty sure that Bennett will win the overall.

Those time gaps already. And that is only for sprint bonuses.
I think you are underestimating the climb to Selcuk. I cannot see Bennett limiting his losses to only 40 seconds, regardless of how weak the field of climbers is.

But Bennett isn't Kittel and probably very motivated to keep his jersey.

With this super-weak field (sorry), I could see him pulling out an effort and finishing 10th or something like that. About 40 seconds (or less) down on the winner.

I could see Bennett in a similar scenario like Sagan on Mt. Baldy. I know Sagan is a one-of-a-kind but he is up against a much weaker field than Sagan.

I don't think that the likes of Pantano and Ulissi actually are weaker climbing opposition than Alaphillipe, Sagan's main opponent.

Bennett made the front group of 20 or so over the climb today, but today's climb was easy enough to be in his comfort zone. He can handle hills well. His first big win, after all, wasn't a bunch sprint. It was the Tour of Britain queen stage, which he won from an elite selection of seven or eight. But as hills start to become serious climbs it's another story. Selcuk I think should be too much, at least if any of the climbers have any form.

Your elitist attitude stinks, you posted in another thread that you don't watch cycling so disappear and stop ruining threads

Not sure you know what elitism is and I don't know where I said I was not watching cycling since that is not true...

I'm not sure why you watch cycling if the only exciting race for you is one which has action from far out. In 2016 RVV, Cance stayed in the chasing group while Kwiato and Sagan attacked. I seem to remember Cancellara sitting in the wheels in that occasion. In Strade Bianche 2016, Cance waited until Siena to make his surge. Cance is a great rider and extraordinarly entertaining, but he didn't always blow people off his wheel. You need tactics to win.

He was WAY past his prime.

Besides, being in a chase group or a lead group without attacking is not staying in wheels, it's also taking turns, so taking the wind. A breakaway rider is not a wheelsucker but a bunch sprinter is. You never got to see a sprinter taking part in the chase behind a breakaway, he's got domestiques/slaves to do it for him.

And I'm no longer watching cycling but for cyclocross and some classics or 1.1 races in the low countries, and if I had the chance to I'd watch some women's races. But that's it.

Get out of this thread please, you are not watching this race anyway.

Just noticed in a replay of the finish that Muhlberger started celebrating long before Bennett actually won. I guess the riders are well aware that Bora can only lose if Bennett is out of position.

So just because you don't watch a race, you cannot be interested? I cannot watch because I'm at work when the race is underway. Do you have a job?

Thank you for constantly using the search motion to check my history on these boards. I must be a big star if you are so constantly checking my posts. I'll stay on this thread. Asking me to get out is asking me to stay!

Will say I find it impossible to comment on a race without watching it live or a replay - Anyway TOT is a warm up for Bennett's Giro aspirations in 2018 - He needs to nail a stage in 2018.

There is quite a difference between winning and finishing tenth. :p

Not really. He is already over 30 seconds in front of most of his rivals. Finishing tenth (let's say 30-40 secs down on the leader) on the only climbing stage (stage 4) would be enough to secure the overall since he is very likely to win stage 5 and 6 and get even more bonus secs. It only requires one all-in effort from him.

The profiles makes the race seem harder than it really is. Cavendish won stage 5 on a similar course. The climb isn't hard and too far away from the finish.

But let's see. I think he will win 5 stages and take the overall because of the bonus points. You heard it from me first.

Someone needs to give Shane Archbold a contract for next year. Nearly a year off the bike due to injury and he's come back in the last 4 weeks in what may be the best form of his career. He's been great, together with Muhlberger, helping make things even easier for Bennett into the final sprint.

Is Archbold struggling for a contract? That's a surprise because I know he and Bennett are good mates, and you'd think Sam's results this year would give him enough pull to name at least one or two of his sprint train.

He was out for the last year plus injured and has only just come back at the end of this season. Today was his eighth race day. Missing basically the whole of a contract year is a disaster for any rider and worse if you aren't a star. Plus Bora have another excellent lead out specialist in Selig and team sizes are shrinking next year.

I hope that Bora have just been waiting to see how he comes back from the injury, but wouldn't be surprised if there's no space. And it's tough to find a contract elsewhere when you've been out long term.

Bora should send Bennett to Guangxi, btw. At least there he could test his late season form against other top sprinters.

Yeah, I do have a job, and it takes something like 6 seconds to find an old post from you that contradicts your present posts, as you are the most senseless/inconsistent poster in this board.

Actually, it's sad that this race went downhill, it was a very nice race until 2014. I miss Gabvroski style attacks from torku team.

They are (at least going by PCS which has Guangxi as Archbold's next race).

Archbold has an existence independent of Bennett: Munsterland and Turkey are the only races they have done together this year. Archbold is named on PCS for Guangxi, but so are 6 other Bora riders (ie a full team).

What a stupid race, nothing against Bennett but this is really boring.
Finally action today?

Dude you've just exhumed a post that confirmed what I've just said. I might have any flaw in the world but I'm always consistent with what I'm saying.

You can get to CNF at work but it's hard to follow a race on a stream. And you can get interested in a race without following it live. How did the oldtimers do when there were no TV?

Cyclingfever has him rumoured to go to Aqua Blue.

Edit: Transfer is done
