that wasn't duarte. I said a few times already. chavez did all the work and was still there. duarte had long dropped. when chavez had taken back bardet around that duarte dropped. he was totally out of it

No, but Duarte was supposed to be a lot better than that. Some people have already said that Chavez is a big talent but he is yet to prove it in the pro-peloton. But Duarte and Atapuma have already proven they are good enough to be fighting with the best. Atapuma did his part in Trentino, but Duarte has been awful this year. Maybe the change of teams or coach has not helped him at all.

We should not be too harsh with Chavez, i think he did good today, finished 12 after working a lot.

Young Bardet also shows a lot of promise

Stage 5 is quite hard, Konya team wont be able to control peleton and noone will help them. Break will go and it will be decisive like last year when Huzarski was the leader.

the biggest climb is 400 metres in 10 km./ dat is 4% average. and only in beginning of the stage :L

Looking at these profiles, it's clear that the price paid for today's mtf, was that they took out the big breakaway opportunity stage.
The one that enters the higher mountains, but finishes on the coast.
Konya would certainly struggle on that terrain.
However, it's gone and what is left is stage 5 and
Stage 4
Fethiye – Marmaris 132 km

Both are deliberately misleading. We'll certainly get sparks flying on the final lumps, but probably end up with sizable bunch sprints.

Yes, having watched a recording I'm pretty sure Chaves didn't know Duarte had gone. Just before Bardet attacked for the second time Chaves was on the front of the group, then swung off and looked around for his team leader. Duarte is such a frustrating rider to follow...

These days "big" stages often end in controlled racing with everybody going according to script, whereas sometimes action is much more surprising on these types of trivial stages. We shall see.

Now, that i've seen the race.

Wow that was crazy from Gabrovsky. Dyachenko was mighty impressive as well -- he pulled the entire group of wheel suckers up the mountain and when they tried to cut him in the ~15% finish still took the 2nd place with a smile.

Zeits and Vino were eh, but hey their peak is far ahead in July.

Also for people who were asking what Colnago are doing -- Bataglin finished 8th. Not bad, i say.

Gabrovski has been suspended due to crit levels above 50% twice, once in 2003 and once in 2005. But I guess that was caused by altitude training

Will be interesting to see his team trying to defend the race lead. If the other teams race smart, he'll have a tough time. However, they probably won't, as too many sprinter's teams will try to control everything anyway.
