I used to do this, when the sprint button comes on(with 12km left if I remember correctly, haven't played it for ages) I'd get my best flat guy set him to relay 99%(or dot, but that depends if you think using the dot function is cheating or not) then my next best flat guy would use the follow function, do that so each guy follows the 1st rider then you get your sprinter to follow the leadout guy in the chain, then when each of your guys runs out of energy you select the next rider inline to pull then when you get to 3km you should be down to the leadout guy, get him to sprint and your main sprinter should be following then when the leadout is out of energy, sprint with your main guy and if luck is on your side you should pull off the stage win.

this is pretty much how I do it, although my first guy will 'spring follow' about 8th or 9th in the peleton relay. each pull is about a km so by the time you get near 4kms you're about 1 or 2 from the front with your train - then it's time to put the afterburners on with your front man at 99% to over take them.
I usually do it with the second guy though as the front dude is usually spent by then. I usually use a good TT rider for this. Two sprinters following him and you're pretty much right at this point
who's HTC?

My version must have been earlier, and it followed a precise rule for those encrypted names: change every vowel to the next in the alphabetical order a,e,i,o,u.

have you played the subsequent editions, and if so, what's your opinion?

Yes, I played some, but when they twisted the lenght/time/speed relationship by a 10x factor (sprints lasting 2 km) I lost interest.

Huusler is still my all time favorite.

PCM10 has a new detailed simulation mode, letting you watch the kilometers tick by on a scoreboard. News is relayed on screen like a CN Live Ticker, and beforehand you can tell riders when you want them to attack, or to take over the pacemaking if a favourite is struggling.

I'm not really used to it yet, but it is a really nice new feature to the game.

That sounds like a good addition, it used to be the case that if you simulated a break was much more likely to survive to the finish and ruin your plans for the overall.

So far I've done 3 detailed simulations (only finished the TDU), and in 2 of the simulations the break survived, other a sprint victory by Boonen.

But then again I had no intention of chasing considering my best sprinter was Pablo Urtasun :p.

Hopefully the breakway surviving isn't a trend that develops in the detailed simulation. If it is I'll just send Amets on every break possible :D

Wait, does this mean you can do a simulation with some changes during the race, but you don't need to really race the race, that seems to be perfectly made for me

You cannot make changes mid-race, but you have a lot more control than just telling a guy to go on a break, or perform a lead-out. You can choose when and where to attack, or when you want teammates to go up front and start chasing and the intensity of the chase. It also gives you the current state of your riders (red, yellow, green bars), and their position in the peleton.

All beforehand though, it would be nice to make inrace alterations.

I'll probably get the new one if I win my WC top scorer bet.

Be great if they slowed down the last few km's so that you only actually sprint for the last few hundred metres.

Like the custom team thing too - Mapei-Saeco :D

This is already a big improvement from earlier versions, I think I'll get this one

Graphics improved dramatically, and stages load sooo much faster now! At least Murcia stages did.

I always simulate, so the graphics don't really make that much of a difference to me, probably also because I only have a 64 mb graphics system

It's a pretty decent game.
- The racing isn't really different. Nothing new.
- So far the manager mode and out-of-race- window is pretty much the same.
- Neilstrong is back ;)
- It has a more detailed simulation mode. More options, and has 2 different simulation types o choose from. One is the same as previous years, whilst the other is more detailed, provides commentary and allows you to dictate when your leaders should attack. I like it.
- I'm only a little in my first season, so I can't comment too much on the manager mode.
- Again the original database is completely out of whack and inaccurate.
- Looks a little prettier

yeah I like it a lot.
Good addition.

I am waiting for the end of the season and hoping that the transfer system will be back. I used to like getting offers for my riders from other teams, and attempting to buy riders with unfinished contracts.
The last game was ridiculous, so many good riders would change teams. after 2 seasons the teams look like they have been through a lottery draw.

Yeah, last year, they had a sort of community DB team, and they did listen to what we said (I was in the team).
But just before the release they changed some stats to wack again.

This year they just skipped the db-team altogether and gave random stats, horrible DB. But hey, the good news is PCM Daily DB will get converted to PCM 2010 somewhere this month

yeah pcm daily always come up with some good db's (plus the proper names, which is nice, if you get annoyed at looking at evins, neilstrong and co)
