I always try not to overdo in first 2 weeks. Little details that sum up and pay out in last week. Then put the hammer down and let others sweat early in stage. Playing some cards up there or just do some selections by letting team make high tempo in mountains.
Sometimes I chose good GT teams, sometimes some sprinterteams or just smaller teams to make as much trouble in breakaways as possible.

Like always in last years, Rabobank is a good compromise I think. You can sprint with Freire for green with some support and they have good climbers and GT guys. Of course, with Menchov was easier. :D
During GT, I think going for green is the hardest competition of all.
If find it harder than going for yellow.

Its also fun, if possible, to give away a leaderjersey early in race, and let breakaway win with large gap. But there were nearly always teams who do the work, even in mountains. Too often in PCM 2009.

But I feel that it changed in this 2010edition or with this db.
Again yesterday. I love it when no one helps me or some other teams.
12 minutes is great. Chase on Pineau can begin.
I like those Voeckler and Arroyo GTs.

Yeah in PCM 2010 they always let break go too far if you don't like to work.
But sometimes I pay really bad attention.

Then I think I caught all breakaways (playing at x4 or x8 ofcourse), and then in the final when I slow down to x2 or x1 speed and want to start my finale. I suddenly discover a semi-favorite, like Kreuziger, Barredo or Chavanel (really notorious ones these 3) have attacked somewhere in between and are suddenly 5 minutes in front

So many times I lost a race by simply not paying attention.

Anyway, just finished the cobbled classics + castilla y leon.. won RVV with Breschel, and finished 2nd in both Gent Wevelgem (won by Hushovd) and Paris Roubaix (won by Boonen). It was real fun. GW was a 20 men sprint, PR roubaix was Boonen vs Breschel.. RVV, wel it was weird.
I rode away with Breschel on de Muur....then 4 men came back. On the bosberg I rode away with Cancellara. Then again a group came back and suddenly we went into the last 6km with 16 men.
Then Nuyens did a late attack, I followed with Breschel and beat him in the sprint. Cancellara came from too far back and finished 4th. Boonen was 3rd, also followed our attack, but was out of energy.

Pais Vasco, as I told in a post before, I finished 3rd with Gesink. Before the final stages, 4 man had the same time.. Contador, Gesink, Cunego and Vinokourov. LL Sanchez, my other leader, was 27 seconds back.
Somehow I crushed the ITT with LL Sanchez, who won by a whopping 45 seconds, and took the GC after all!
Contador (only 3rd in the ITT, Evans was 2nd) was 2nd in the GC and finished only 8 seconds ahead of Gesink, who did an awesome ITT (still with old bad stats 71TT and 66 Prologue). Was pretty happy with that.

Castilla y Leon was also loads of fun. Bos won the first stage. Mollema won the mountain stage, but unfortunately Samuel Sanchez hung on and dominated the ITT.
Now the hilly classics are waiting. Gesink nearing top form, LL Sanchez just over top form but still good enough to do something :)

Doing is different from just reading how to do it. You'll need some time learning this.

It's like watching a porn movie, it is not the same as sex :p

Hope it will be like you say. Don´t wanna win too early.

Cobble: As far as i played. Winning green and mountain was always way easier than yellow. May i had the wrong teams (Custom, Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni (i love this name, unlucky they changed to Androni Giocatelli only), HTC Columbia).

So... just had the Tour in my 2011 season

Can say it was pretty succesfull for my Rabobank squad:
-4 stage victories with Freire
-Mountain jersey with Ten Dam
-Another stage vicotry with Barredo (breakaway)
-Gesink 2nd in the GC and best GC rider on Alpe d'Huez (2 breakaway riders stayed away :( )

I couldn't make a difference with Gesink against Contador on the mountain stages except Alpe d'Huez (won '53 seconds). Lost 10 seconds on the first mountain, lost 43 seconds on the second stage (-3 form of the day :( ).. and then at the rest of the mt stages pretty equal except the Alpe d'Huez.

Before the ITT I was 30 seconds behind but with Gesinks ITT stat at 72 I knew I'd lose 2/3 minutes. Finished the ITT as 20th and lost 3 minutes...
LL Sanchez did quite well as super-domestique and finished 11th. Mollema 21th..Freire 3rd in the points jersey and pre-mentioned Ten Dam won the mountain jersey.

But Contador was just too strong (on extreme). Also Fränk Schleck was 3rd almost the entire Tour but he blew the ITT. Andy Schleck lost time on silly flat stages and was already out of contention when the climbing started. He still worked his way up though, working for Fränk... Sammy Sanchez took 3rd after the final ITT but rode an anonymous Tour. Bradley Wiggins was nowhere near the top 5 but rode a fantastic ITT and jumped to 6th in the end...

1 Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank) 86h54'13
2 Robert Gesink (Rabobank) +3'33
3 Samuel Sanchez (Euskaltel) +5'13
4 Cadel Evans (BMC) 5'14
5 Fränk Schleck (Leopard Trek) +5'55
6 Bradley Wiggins (Team Sky) +6'02
7 Ivan Basso (Liquigas) +6'39
8 Andy Schleck (Leopard Trek) +7'17
9 Levi Leipheimer (RadioShack) +7'22
10 Vincenzo Nibali (Liquigas) s.t.

2011. The stages that work are cool. But quite a few of the flat stages kept crashing on me so I replaced them with similar, working, stages.

The problem with non-cyanide made stages is that they are often sooo unstable. Stage makers try to put too much detail in it, and that doesn't work on a 1/10 scale, so you get crashes. I'm happier with a stable normal stage.. then a crashing superdetailed one

Haha yep thats too bad though that they crash. I really want to play the 2011 Giro stages. Seems you'll need 85 recuperation to be able to survive everyday lol.

Try PCM daily 2011 db

Tour and Giro not 100 %, but close.
This Giro is hell, if all the stages are just close to reality.

Around 115 finishers when I played last time. :D Save energy till third week !

It wasn't too bad.

Although Kruijswijk, who did really well in the second week (4th and 7th) kind of had a super hard time in the last week. Also 3 of my team gave up and half of the peloton was decimated by the time limit :D

Hiya all,

There is one. Here - http://www.pcmdaily.com/forum/viewthread.php?thread_id=16173

One addition I would like for PCM11 would be - Recovery counts for 3 week stages and slightly for one week as well. But when it comes to one day Classics, it doesn't at all. I give you example, in my Sky story I won Omloop Het Nieuwsblad with Flecha, next day his green bar was full and he won Kuurne as well, which is impossible. The recovery stat should count for one day races as well, if they are close to each other in days.

Yea, it is possible. Additionally your save game will have the new 2011 shirts and equipment from the 2011 DB, but no stat changes or new stage profiles. Tey are 'encoded' to work only when you choose the 2011 DB. So you wont loose any progress.

The PCM daily databases are so big and they take kinda long to download but thanks guys. Dekker is the update you are using now as good as the ones on pcm daily

It's really a good update. There are some things I disagree with, but stats can be changed with the fast editor really quick.
Other than that it's a really nice db, with more teams, and remarkably stable

so, how exactly do you change databases?

Am I correct to believe that for my current game it would simply update jerseys, team names, rider spellings, and add some extra teams? - not altering stats
and then for anything new it would have the above plus re-statted all riders and personnel shuffles (ie; evans at bmc, etc...)

How in this world you are able to do this or let it happen?

Only once in my 3 years with PCM was a successful breakaway (including 1 of my riders) happening. All other races/stages the breakaways were caught.

Only once or twice a breakway was making it to the finish line when none of my riders were included in the breakaway.

To have a more realistic game i would like to know how to do it.
Could it be...
a.) that i play/ed in the "Normal-Modus"? Should i change to "extreme"?
b.) that it is because i use the PCM 2009? I wouldn´t like to give it up, because i edited the Database in 2+ years.
c.) that i should really dig deep into the Database and change some programming? That would be hard, because i have no idea how to do it.
If that´s the case, i´d like to send you me Database for change. (BTW i would like more crashes; it seems there are too little. And i´d like to upload pics of riders into my database.
d.) that i just play the game wrong? I mean i really don´t work on glosing the gap between the peloton and the breakaway, but all the time the other teams do it for me. Even tough i don´t want that to happen.

Urgent help and advice is needed. Thanks :)

P.S.: How can you loose 3 minutes on ITT with a 72-ITT-Rate? I always crush my opponents (or at least stay close with them) with my 70+ ITT´lers.

For example, i put 3+ minutes on everybody with Scarponi and Simoni exept Basso ("only" + 53 seconds) in the 2009-Giro-63-KM-TT.

I bought it last year, my current campaign with the 2008 edition has a team with Boonen, Cancellara, Pozzato, Contador, Both Schlecks, Nibali, Kreuziger and LL Sanchez (as top riders). Not very realistic in that sense, but still pretty cool to have all those guys together ;) I ended up winning every single stage of the 2010 TDF.

Who won the overall?
