Who is the surprise team that nobody has mentioned?

I'm guessing saxo

There are only 4 WT teams with less than 28 riders on their roster: Movistar (25), BMC (26), Lampre-Merida (26) and Sky (27). So one of those four.

I assume you are talking about the biciciclismo interview? Where does he say anything about him being spectacular?
Here:

I'm hearing Cofidis. Maybe strange, but it will allow him to ride TdF and classics this year, and there is a possibility they will get 2014 WT license.

of course not. Remember he's aiming for the Tour.

This is a good article which gives you the situation of most probable teams. It's however 2 weeks old.

Coffidis isn't mentioned in it, so that might be a viable option as they are pretty much guaranteed to ride the Tour & vuelta as a Wildcard entrant.

Well yeah, look at the interviewer's question...

And still, this is nowhere close to what afpm90 claims he said.

Who the f*** is Rodriguez that ne needs his personal entourage of FOUR Spaniards (Losada, Florencio, Vicioso, Moreno)? Even Contador has "only" three men (Hernandez, Noval, Paulinho).

Rodriguez is a little bit overrated and hyped.

At most, if he gets to bring anyone, it will only be 3. Since Moreno has indicated he is staying at Katusha. Plus he says that some of the teams he is considering signing would allow him to bring a colleague, so it doesn't sound like he is pushing to have all of his guys with him.

Lampre is most likely of those 4, all the others he'll run into competition for leadership with other riders. He says it will be the last contract he signs so he's looking at the team that will support his goals in the long term.

Not so sure about Cofidis, since they would still need to rely on wildcards for other races. And it isn't certain that they would be able to get into the world tour, unless Rodriguez feels he can bring in enough points to get them in.

Paulinho is Portuguese, not spanish. Down to 2.

I have a feeling that 3 WT teams will fold at the end of the year.
If that happens, there is a good chance that Cofidis will end up getting a WT spot next year.

seriously some of the rumours regarding which team Jrod will move to are absolutely ridiculous. Sky.???? there's already leadership conflict between froome and wiggins. Why the hell would he move there??
Movistar. They have valverde.
BMC. They have Cadel and Tejay.
The only one that makes any sense is lampre. I actually think Cannondale need a GC contender since basso seems to be past his prime.

Only thing he says is that he maybe was too confident about himself and that, when he was a leader, he should have focused more on result only and been on Alberto's wheel 24/7 (referring to Fuente de).

I don't have access to Google translate and most here do but why is there such confusion over what was actually stated in the interview? I'm inclined to accept Flamin's interpretation since it seems to make more sense than whoever intro'd the quote to the thread.

They are committed to Sagan and Moser ie a more classics oriented team. IMO highly unlikely he'll join them. Also they have no space to sign him or his domestiques.

I don't understand the Cannondale rumour too tbh... They let Nibali go becuase they couldn't afford him. How the hell will they afford Rodriguez and his Spaniards :p

No idea why people even mention Sky, just ridiculous. Lampre is the only logical one. Argos was mentioned before, it could happen. They have both the money and space I think.

add to rider conflicts and race access the novel concept of funding. J-Rod carries tons of WT points and can create results. He will not be cheap, not even at this point in the season.

My apologies. I didn't know cannondale let nibali go because they couldn't afford him.
Argos seems like a good move too, they need a GC contender. But their sprint train will have to be compromised for the tour since they'll need mountain domestiques for Jrod.
Lampre is the only logical one.

But would Rodriguez want to join a team, who he says will likely be his last team, based on the chance Cofidis get's into the world tour. I see your point and agree with it, but Rodriguez strikes me as the type of guy who needs a little more reassurance on if a team will be in the world tour or not.

Yr, but this is because we've run out of options in guessing a WT that could accommodate him.

If he joins a Pro conti team IAM and Cofidis seam to be his likely options. He said that the team he was closest to join hasn't been mentioned in the media yet, and IAM was mentioned in the media, so this leaves only cofidis.

And even though it is not a WT team they are guaranteed to ride the Tour, Vuelta, LBL & FW.

If he says that he has to be a boring rider in order to win a GT, it's because he thinks of himself to be an exciting rider. The interviewer brings the term spectacular, not of thin air, but because that was implied in Rodriguez answer. And then in his response he says that if he ever is again in a situation to win, he has to think less in a spectacular cycling.

I am still tying to figure out ways he can be even more boring and win, considering his capabilities.
