No, on the contrary. he says he has never rested this long in the off season.

My bad. I didn't read the whole interview as i was only interested in the schedule, but the bit at the top caught my eye where they asked how.long he.went without doing anything and he saysnot even a week and talks about doing skiing because its similar to cycling, i thought he was boasting about how much training he was doing even after lombardy. But i see now that in another paragraph he says the opposite and that he was spending time with kids etc

Facepalm.

1 Giro vuelta are not back to back gts ( which rodriguez is trying to combine with a further 3 weeks of peak)

2 Gilbert did not challenge for the gc, which also defeats the entire shock factor.
His season was a fraction of the difficulty of what jrod is attempting.

So what is your point? Getting worried that no one has been talking about Gilbert so once again trying to hijack discussions and make them about him?

Getting your attention ;)

tt schedule

Sorry, it doesn't work like that. We're not talking about math here, you can't extrapolate. Purito could have been in the lead anyway. You just couldn't know.

How does that work? Purito lost 59 seconds in the tt but kept the jersey by 1 second. 32 of the 60 seconds he had on contador prior to tt came.from.bonuses.

Where do you propose a rider who relied on bonus seconds for over half his advantage would have found 32 seconds from?

Let me guess he would have attacked from the bottom.of the climb on la galina and had a minute by the top lol.

Oh and here's another fun fact. Without bonus seconds.rodriguez would never even have held the leaders jersey at the giro. With them.he still lost it.

Lol, you do realize I have adressed both points in my post already?

Phil also rode Romandie after the Ardennes. So yeah, it's a very similar season. If you think Rodriguez will ride for GC in the Vuelta after a season like that you'll be disappointed anyway. But considering you also believed he didn't stop training maybe you do believe it. :D

He must be riding for one of those new up and coming teams saying "we aim at Tour in a xxx time".

With or without KAT, Purito's program has been mapped out.

IMO he already has a team which has accepted his demands. À qui la chance?

J-Rod is determined to add a stage race win to his palmares in '13. No question about it.

wow- is quite a busy schedule- good for him :) which leads me to believe he has to have a team already (perhaps KATUSHA have already made arraignments with the race organizers to secure a spot.)

It's not impossible to do 2 grand tours in combination. Giro-Tour is possible, but just if you're racing for spot 3-5 in both like Mentsjov did in 2008.

Tour-Vuelta it is even possible to podium both or win in France and podium in Spain like Sastre did it. Also Evens showed that you can finish high in both.

But you can't win Giro-Tour anymore an I doubt anyone other than Contador could do Tour-Vuelta double. Also not Rodriguez. Even if I said the Vuelta field might be pretty weak this year, I think there will be a much fresher young gun or dark horse that will be able to distance Rodriguez in Spain.

Decent article on whether Purito will stay at Katusha or go.

http://inrng.com/2013/01/rodriguez-new-team/

Apparently Purito comes with a package including Moreno, Losada and 2 other doms.

Astana, who most people thought as his likely destination has the full quota of rides and can't sign Purito unless they retire some of their riders.

If Katusha completely folds, IAM cycling might be a destination, even though it's a Pro Conti team. They have room for 5 riders and have enough money.

Lol, they are trying to show that they are serious about anti doping.

Apparently, it's one of the requirements of the UCI.

Apparently they want to ride Tour de France and don't expect a positive outcome at CAS:p

That wouldn't make any sense whatsoever. He is leaving Katusha because of no guarantees of participation in races like Tour etc.

In IAM he has the same problem... Anyway I am pretty sure IAM has finalized the roster and it will stay the way it is without changes.

If Katusha Folds and he can't find a World Tour team it seems to be the most likely option. It only has 23 riders on it's roster.

Christ. Sometimes it seems like cycling is stuck in the 5th ****ing century where it takes years for 2 parties to make simple communications because thats how long it takes the messenger on horseback to go to and thro.

You phone up Prudhomme, you ask if Katusha is going to get a wildcard because the ****ing livelyhoods of like 60 people depend on it. And based on that answer rather than drag everyone through 2 months of this nonsense, ****ing up seasons and races, you get the answer you need and proceed with what has to be done

All the other races will sort themselves. Absolutely no race is going to say no to Katusha if the defending and 2 time UCI world number 1 says he will be there.
