At least he tried. Didn't had the legs on Glandon. Looks like longer climbs are a bit too much for his age. Although Plateau de Beille was 15 km.

I think the chance he gets a stage win / polka dots is zero. At least he's got 2 stage wins out of this Tour.

He should save his legs the next two days, might help him be that little bit fresher for the Vuelta.

He give it a go today as expected but seems he's too tired at the moment.I don't think he can do more in the next 2 stages because the GC guys will go crazy. At least he got 2 wins out of this Tour and La Vuelta might bring more.

He could actually arrive to the Vuelta as the freshest GC contender from those that rode the Tour, this is also a bit of wishful thinking, but it is possible.

Actually it's looking good for him if he can arrive to the Vuelta in top form.

The Tour is just game over for him in his career. But a beautiful end to this race with 2 stage wins.

And indeed he will be good in the Vuelta. That race just suits him more on this stage in his career then a Tour. He will animate the race there.

It was a hard day but I felt good and immediately went on the attack with the goal to take maximum points today. Everything went well but it was hard to control all riders in the break the entire day. In the flat part at the feed zone before the Glandon I had a bad moment. It went fast and I could not take my feed bag so on the Glandon I paid for that. It was my goal to also take those 25 points or even the stage win but it was over for me at that point. However, I won’t give up. There are two mountain stages to go and I will attack again. Fuglsang and Bardet will be motivated, too, but I will fight for it, - said team leader Joaquim Rodriguez.

I don't believe him ;)

Purito and Pinot let me down today. I bet on them for the stage win. I was sure they both are going to be in the break and I thought they would be the strongest on this type of terrain but first Pinot couldn't follow and then surprisingly also Purito. I didn't expect this. Maybe Pinot was affected by the crash yesterday, but Purito looked really strong throughout the stage. Maybe he lost too much energy sprinting for the KOM points. Anyway he has the KoM lead now and it's going to be an exciting battle between him, Bardet, Fuglsang, Froome and maybe Pauwels.

"I attacked on the Bordako Tontorra. I was able to take some meters, but then I had to brake for a motorbike that had crashed. Yates went, then me and some others went behind him, but again we had to slow down for a motorbike. We know this is part of cycling, but it really doesn’t need to be this way. Yates crossed the top as the first rider and we couldn’t catch him in the descent. It was a nice job by Yates; congratulations to him,” said Joaquim Rodriguez.

Didn't see the race so I'm not sure this is true. If it is it's a shame he missed an opportunity to win, I was hoping he could add another classic to his palmares. But now it's recover and train hard for the Vuelta.

With such a hard Tour under his belt, i think it's all about maintaning his form and not train too hard. Otherwise you're completely burned at he start of the Vuelta.

It will be really cool if he can podium again, but i rather see him winning 2/3 stages.

One thing is sure,he will be good in la Vuelta.

I will be cool if he can win. As I made clear in the Utah thread I want to see him on a epic battle against Valverde and come out on top because he totally deserves it.

I really hope so, but i think the chance is close to zero. Although the chance is bigger he's goes full *** in one stage in one last bid to GT victory. He knows he has to do it that way.

I think he will race spectaculair, winning at least one stage and decides who's going to lose the Vuelta. But winning it? No.

It was a few days ago, but I'm not sure if this was mentioned.

I think it's very funny (or poor) so many ignorant people don't understand the ironic humor in this tweet. Purito is a master of that kind of humor. Most of his tweet are with a funny intention.

It is his typical humor if one read his post, but he must be carefull becouse it is ugly and it could be misundertand and bring him problems.

By who? I guess Erviti, Quintana and Inxtausti understand it.

And it's humor, so how could it be ugly. A vital part of humor is that not everyone understands it, or apreciate it. That's part of life.

I hope he one day becomes co-comentator for TVE.

Perico is wearing down year by year and with Purito by his side, De Andrés could produce the less important cycling races in the Sant Cugat studios of TVE instead of travelling to Madrid each time. For El Tour and La Vuelta, Purito would be an excellent enroute interviewer...

I dont mean Movistar guys...I just say the if you do that in a public media that everybody see, someone co.uld misundertand it. It is not the same to do that in a party with friends that in internet, just i said that.

I have talk several times with Purito and is a nice guy and his ex teammates will understand.

Exactly my thoughts. I think he's got the qualities for that. The way he orginazed La Purito (and connecting the media with it), is imo an evidence he's good with the media. And he's popular mostly because of his interviews and behaviour in front of the camera.

I have liked the commentary of Perico and Carlos for many years (i think they were top class), but perhaps it's time for a change. It's a pity TVE isn't there anymore at the races, live i mean (Tour) due to the crisis, with the exception of La Vuelta. However, one advantage of it is that they can invite a current pro racer (Inxtausti, Landa) or ex-racer (Gutierrez, Indurain, Escartin) each stage at the Tour in their studio as a 3rd expert, like this year.
