Bad weather but not a great day for him.He didn't lose much time so he should be good after the rest day.
It was a very good day for him. He finished 19 seconds behind the lead group of five, containing Froome and Quintane, and within the second group of five. That's one of his best high mountain performances for a long time.
Well this stage was on his radar and i thought he's gonna do more about it.Before the stage i was even considering a stage win.So in the end it wasn't a great day because he actually lost some time.Anyway considering his atrocious year i accept this performance. Now he's got a lot of work to do as a podium place is up for grabbing.
A stage win was already impossible when Bala dropped back and the break got 10 minutes.
And be real: you actually expected Purito to drop the likes of Quintana, Froome and Porte when a stage win is up for grabs? He doesn't have the level anymore to do that.
Atm he's up there with the 10 best GC riders. That's really good. Before the Tour, i thought that was impossible. He's 37 years old. At best, he can reach his Vuelta 15 level. And even then it's not enough for a podium. But good enough for 5-10th in GC at the end.
