TOC organizers not showing any respect for Horner http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/18-teams-announced-for-2015-tour-of-california !

AEG, the organisers of the Tour of California, announced the 18 teams that have been invited to the 2015 edition of the race, including eight WorldTour, four Pro Continental and six domestic squads. Although there will be no return for 2011 winner Chris Horner, whose Airgas-Safeway squad was not invited, the race did invite three newcomers: US Pro champion Eric Marcotte's SmartStop team, the Australian Drapac squad and the South African MTN-Qhubeka team.

As I posted back in December this was to be expected but I'm shocked that anyone around here would be surprised by that decision.

Blind hope I guess. For my own personal entertainment I hoped he'd be riding. Oh well.

I agree with that but quite honestly you cant blame the organizers with choosing and supporting the young generation over a team of no names with one past due rider

Sort of surprised, you'd think the ToC would welcome a former winner, but it's the team that gets the invite, not the man. He'll be in Utah, and probably Colorado too.

You are so right. After pandering for so long it's about time the organizers showed some sense.

100%. Couldn´t get much better, but it can... :)

... if Utah and Colorado don´t invite the team too. That would be even greater news. And I feel it, I see it, it´s coming: Horner rides his around the mom-and-pop-shop races, keeps winning there, gains loads of CQ points... but no one will care, coz the bigger US tours will ignore his team (& thus him). It is sweeter than sweet. :)

... no, no, not him being stupid, he just signed for the only team stupid.... or better say gutsy enough to sign him. Seems to be the only team to think the gains outweigh the risks they got with him.

That is no "bull" clinic talk. I just said what organizers think: The cold hard truth!

the organisers don't invite airgas because they are no friends with organisers. I'm sure utah will invite them for instance

It's unfortunate Airgas didn't get the invite.
I was hoping Velonews would continue their tradition of gag-inducing titles next May, with something like 'Super Chris in Cali goes Balistic, Garmin are Atrocious'

lol unlucky Horner and good riddance, we do not see you in the WT no more thank god. You was a bad nightmare for Lampre last year. Rant over:).

Actually Lampre was a bad nightmare for Chris Horner. Forcing him to train anywhere in Italy where got reached, miss medicating his cortisone usage, ruining his Vuelta participation, not prolonging his contract.

Anyway his time seems to be finally over. Had a great second spring in 2013, after all.
