shhh trying to belittle el pickle :D

it was a good ride by him.
I agree with the adjustment factor for what its worth.
I liked the scenes where gesink and him hugged, gesink appears to get along with teh spaniards very nicely. He does speak it ok I believe.

Sure Lulu won.

1° Because of a nasty crash in the peloton that gave the breakaway 4 free minutes
2° Because a car drove over Flecha and Hoogerland
3° Because he wheelsucked Thomas Voeckler all the way

Bravo? Even Marianne Vos would have won this stage. A win is a win, but I still believe Lulu is in crappy shape.

Jeannesson did well today. Didn't know he could climb that well.

He was Arroyo's last domestique on the Zoncolán and finished with the first group behind the GC winners (with Armstrong, Garzelli and co) on Vesuvius in 2009.

Jeannesson is actually a very good rider who's kind of flown under the radar by being a Frenchman on a Spanish team until now.

Jeannesson's chances to take the white jersey then?

Well he was the most impressive of the young riders yesterday so I think he has a good chance, he seems quite a bit better then Taaramae at the moment so I think he will beat him quite comfortably, he only finished a little bit ahead of Uran but he lost a lot if time in the Wiggins crash, I think he should be the favourite but if Uran gets better in the coming week he could really take the fight to Jeanneson.

Wasn't Arroyo annoyed at Jeannesson for setting a too fast/irregular tempo on the Zoncolan? Or was that someone/somewhere else?

That's right, that's the one. Urán paced him on Grappa and the Mortirolo, Jeannesson was the last man with him on the Zoncolán, and after a while he went too fast for Arroyo. Then again, to be fair Jeannesson had taken it easy the day before while Arroyo had fought himself into the maglia rosa, and it's hard to get to a nice comfortable regular tempo on the Zoncolán.

Either way, Jeannesson was very strong on that climb, and has clearly been underestimated by many. I include myself in that even though I'd flagged him up as a pretty decent climber before.

It's a shame that Caisse considered most of their French riders as a burden forced on them by their sponsor, rather than as an asset.

After the Tour de l'Avenir I kinda expected a bit more from him. But hopefully this year is the big breakthrough.

in hind sight it might be good that Gesink fell and as a result is crap. Now this competition has become exciting instead of boring and decided.

On the other hand, Gesink can now never win the white jersey at the Tour de France.

To be fair, a lot of them were simply domestiques. Moreau certainly got plenty of opportunities to showcase himself. But Jeannesson is clearly a climber, and a young rider too. Caisse took him to the Giro rather than the Tour because it suits him better; the likes of Brard, Charteau, and Coyot would do the Tour for them. But yes, the French riders were often something of an afterthought for the team when drawing up race calendars.

If he goes on a monster escape in one of the coming stages (a la Rasmussen) he could still grab it. The competition is really poor. I mean, Arnold Jeannesson? Come on.

Can he put 13 minutes into Uran.

Uran seemed to be struggling at one point today, but finished in the main group just fine.Hard to tell if he is coping ok or not.

That's a bit harsh. There was a time where you didn't know who Alberto Contador was either, I'm sure....

Elk nadeel heb zijn voordeel.

I feel sorry for Gesink, but I'm surprised to learn that there are six young riders in the top 26.

Little quiz question. Which two riders have won the white jersey three times?

Andy Schleck and Jan Ullrich...too easy.

I think Taarammae will win white...he'll do well in the final TT.

Yeah, me too. That year (2008) he won the big mountain stage to Guzet-Neige* and Coppel won the time trial, and together they finished third and fourth in some order. Hopefully one of them will make good on the promise.
